Stopped remembering my dreams?

Hey all,
So over the last 3 months I have not been able to recall any of my dreams. Occasionally I will retain some bits and pieces, which always dissipate shortly after.
This has never happened to me before, not for this long. I usually recall something every morning.
I'm really starting to miss them. I suspect that this lapse in recall is due to a few major changes I've been making in my life. I recently left a damaging friendship that was contributing to some serious antisocial mentalities and behavior. After getting out of it, I've started branching out socially and changing my entire attitude torwards other people. It has been a very positive yet stressful transition, and I can tell that my psyche is quite restless.
Anyways, it's beginning to concern me. I'm thinking that it may be related to the intense changes occurring in my psyche, although it could also be related to me recently starting up a cannabis habit again. Cannabis has always interfered with my dream recall in the past, but never this dramatically.
I worry that I'm loosing touch with myself or something. I swear I've changed more over the past 3 months than I had over the last 10 years before.
Is this normal? I want to say that my personality is undergoing such an enormous change that my mind is unconsciously forgetting the events of my slumber.

Weed can limit REM sleep, incase you smoke a ton. If you do toke take a day or two off and see if you get any memorable dreams...
When I stop they go batshit crazy vivid. I hear it's something to do with the build up and non-release of DMT in the pineal, because weed stops you getting to the sleep stage where you release it.

Weed has always killed my dreams. Period. I used to have awesome vivid/sometimes lucid dreams growing up. Sometimes I miss it but I wake up for work way too early to dream anyway so it doesn't matter either way.
The way you describe, it sounds like you're changing you life for the better...

Dreams are so ambiguous, I wouldn't put much stock in them although they are cool.. Cannabis is a dream shield for me..I self only remember what happens when I sleep after smoking..But I sleep like a rock.
Melatonin might be able to help you a lot.

"dreams" are a very, very broad spectrum of experiences. They can be so profound it's hard to believe what just happened. Sometimes they can just be some meaningless memory solidification reaching consciousness.
I think dreaming is somewhere to place your attention. These are constructs that may generate once in a lifetime experiences.

If I had to say waking life was a dream or an objective physical reality, I would say it's a dream with no hesitation. It is a bit odd but this all had to turn out to be something.

Cannabis definitely wont help you with dream recall. When do you go to sleep on average?
I used to have the same issue, and it resolved itself superbly when i quit smoking cannabis and started going to bed before 11pm. at first it was a pain to lie there, but after a few days, my dreams were back to being vivid. They are a wonderful companion to daily living, particularly during a time of change.
There are tons of ways to help your body adjust to a new sleep schedule, too, in case yours needs an adjustment. Eating foods that help produce melatonin helps (i only know bananas and almonds off the top of my head, but i will obtain the full list for you later tonight) and avoiding a TV screen / computer monitor before bedtime also helps immensely, since the production of melatonin is tied to the light that enters our pupils. Taking a warm bath in the evening also helps, as does spending some time outside when the sun comes up.
Hope that this helps
P.S. reading in the bathtub also rocks for me, and i have a feeling that reading fiction helps to warm up my imagination before it is tasked with creating a dreamland. Maybe it will be the same way with you

In addition to all that...Try a dream journal. Keep it next to your bed and write down the little bits and pieces that you do remember when you wake up. It also helps to lie still for a moment when you first wake up to see if any more fragments come to you. The more consistently you write down what little you do remember, chances are you'll start to remember more and more every morning or throughout the day. Good luck.

It has happened to me for years. Then I started a thought pattern: "I will remember my dreams tonight" just before I fall asleep. That works for me.

Yea mantras like this are great just keep repeating this and you will remember at least 1 dream at first I smoke lots of weed and it does hinder dreams if you smoke it a lot but I also meditate to help me remember my dreams and sleep supplements like choline and melatonin and b vitamins will help also keep a good diet and you should start remembering them. Dreaming is a huge part of knowing yourself and what's going on and revealing things that you may not know are affecting you.
