I have delicate question concerning a friend of mines.....it's about a situation... A decision he made a couple of years ago and he's going through some really tough times now.... I want to know if this is a place where I can tell what happened to him and get some advice.....

a good place id say... trolling isn't unheard of though but the majority are uncritical or helpful critics.

this friend of mines had a problem a few years ago at work...some guy kept messing with him because they made my friend a supervisor of a group that had been there for over 2 years, and my friend only 4 months..... things were getting out of hands, so my friend asked his boss to change his position or the other guys to avoid problems.. his boss told him to give him some time, well long story short, the gut try to take a swing on my friend. my friend was able to avoid getting hit and in a moment of reflex hit the guy. the guy dropped and broke his face on the concrete.... when they went to court, my friend had his boss and a couple of the guys cousins testify in his favor, saying that they witness the guy messing with my friend, and his boss said that my friend was the best worker he ever had and he felt it was all his fault for not changing him from position.....they also told the judge that the guy was very violent. my friend was found guilty of aggravated assault, and was sentenced an entire year, because thre was no law of self defence... this is part 1,

part 2... a couple o years went by and he went on with his life, until he was at a bar with acouple of friends and a big fight broke out and two of his friends got cut, he was in the bathroom wen this was happening, he comes out and he sees one of his friends bleeding, there is a guy standing a couple of feets away from his friend with a knife in his hand. the guy looks at my friend and asks him "you want some to?" my friends says to him to calm down, the gut rushes towards my friend and swings with the knife, my friend says he swung hist ist also at the same time. the guy cut him on the arm, (he showed me the cut) and my friend knocked him out at the same time he was getting cut..  when that happen some other people started beating on the guy, he guess people the guy had problems with, he says there were fights all over, any way, he sees there are really beating the guy so he pushes about three guys of the guy that had the knife who was on the floor and then turns to talk to the owner of the bar and a girl he had just met. mean while the guy with the knife is dragged outside and stabbed to death. he doesnt know this till he is home, because of a phone call. he said, he really thought about it and after getting locked up the first time for something he tried so hard to avoid and witnesses and all he wasnt goin to take any chances, and now hes been on the run for 4 years but hes living a terrible life.... he asked me what should he do, and really didnt know what to tell him.. the guys really cool and very nice, he looks really down and really misses home and family.. i met him about 2 yrs ago and hes always helping people were he can.... what do you think he should do.. he says if the system was trust worthy he wouldve stayed.

Man...that's a tough one.  I personally have been victimized by the system as well, for a much less serious accusation.  Basically our legal system is trying to get as many notches on their belts as they can; they don't give a shit about individuals' lives.

That said, he can expect to be taken in if he makes himself available.  For sure.

The only thing I can suggest is to try to get his family out of the country with him (I'm sure this has already been addressed and dismissed).  You can bet the system will take him for everything he's got if he comes out of hiding, or exile, or whatever his situation is.

All I can think of is to wait for the statute of limitations for his charges to expire, and come home.  As I see it, that's really the only chance he has.  Unless he wants to live in Canada or somewhere and try to reunite with his family -- which could be too expensive.

Tough.

Yeah thats a hard one, a real catch-22.

Either way he will be labeled a criminal, both have their chances for freedom, both have a risk. Its really what he thinks has a better chance. Does he think he can get a good lawyer, or represent himself and try and make people see it by his eyes? Sadly though the fact he is on the run kinda makes him look guilty, like "why run if you did nothing wrong?" well maybe because the system, while normally works, can really fuck up.

I wish the best to your friend. May be find peace

I SPOKE TO ANOTHER FRIEND WHO SPOKE TO A LAWYER. THE LAWYER SAID... IT WAS THE BEST THING HE DID... AND IF HE EVER WANTED TO FIGHT THE CASE HE WOULD NEED SOMEONE TO PUT UP A HOUSE AND 100 THOUSAND... OUCH.... THIS GUYS BROKE.... AND HE SAYS ONE OF THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT HE CANT USE HIS NAME FOR NOTHING.... IDK... I KNOW A COUPLE OF PEOPLE THAT DID TIME LOCKED AND WERE INNOCENT, AND THEY WENT THROUGH SO MUCH BAD STUFF.....ITS SAD..

Honestly the story is suspect IMO. They dragged an unconscious man outside and then killed him? What?

Is it possible? Sure, of course. It just seems inordinately psychotic. Both coming out of the bathroom to a random attack and then the same guy being murdered out back. Seems really unlikely but sometimes life is stranger than we imagine.

All I'm saying is that I wouldn't take his words as truth just because he has a scar.

Why would he even share the story if he wasn't innocent?

Could be because he's making a poor character judgment.

not saying he is innocent or guilty, just that the story seems conflated to me. As though some of it might be true and some of it might be made up. For all anyone knows he could have killed a man in self defense and fled because he didn't feel the law would be on his side and now this is the story he tells to get it off his chest. There are many alternatives to him telling the whole truth about something like this.
