MBTI Personality Type - 2014
    #19342690 - 12/29/13 05:36 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

It's 2014 - some people have left and joined Shroomery in recent times, so here is a new MBTI thread here with a poll.

What is your MBTI Personality type?

I think I am likely an ISFP so that's what I will put down in this poll. Recent tests I tried online and reading through forum posts from around a year ago on a MBTI forum leads me to believe that is likely my type.

I think it is interesting at any rate and learning about MBTI has broadened my perspectives in some ways.

I voted ESTJ, but should've been ENTJ. Both are fitting for me, but ENTJ is more.

Well I based my answer on reading the description of each one. According to the test, I'm INTP

ISTJ
Introvert(22%)  Sensing(1%)  Thinking(12%)  Judging(11%)

You have slight preference of Introversion over Extraversion (22%)
You have marginal or no preference of Sensing over Intuition (1%)
You have slight preference of Thinking over Feeling (12%)
You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (11%)

Famous Personalities Sharing Your Type

Lance Armstrong - professional road racing cyclist
Warren Buffet - American business magnate, investor, and philanthropist
Donald Rumsfeld - American 13th and 21st Secretary of Defense
    Greta Garbo - actress

For the test itself, a good amount of the questions were kind of hard to answer because of the vague wording, but the cool thing is that the career options it showed me were pretty on point with what I see myself doing in the future.

Yeah saw that in the poll.

Which is interesting since it's one of the more rare types.

Yeah funny how that works.

I've taken it 6-7 times as an adult and have gotten INFP except for one time when I got INTP.

My dad is a psychologist and recommended it to me years ago.

Disagree, actually i think it's the opposite. I just took a look at the test again and one of the questions is:

"Strict observance of the established rules is likely to prevent a good outcome?"

What kind of retarded question is that? The answer depends on a whole host of other variables. For example: we all take drugs, that's against the rules and yet it produces a wonderful outcome. On the other hand I observe the established road rules because I want a safe driving environment: another "good outcome."

I think if anyone takes theses tests seriously and think that their personality can be described by a 4 letter acronym on some made up test than they're the one who is worthy of the letters TARD.

Awesome Dawks, thanks for that compelling little platitude of yours, it's not as if the designers wouldn't have taken that answer into consideration. In fact it seems it's almost designed for that type of response. Thanks though, without your blatant cynicism we never would've picked it out.

So, to that question you would answer "no", based on what you just said.

I wouldn't answer it. I think it's important to strictly observe some established rules in order to attain the best outcome: for instance rules of commerce and road rules.

On the other hand I think it's important to completely disregard rules regarding what I should put into my body in my spare time.

And here's another retarded question:
"You usually plan your actions in advance?"

What actions? If I'm going to make an important business decision of course. I'll plan out every detail to mimimize the risk. BUT I rarely plan what drugs I'll take, or how much. I rarely plan who I'll socialize with, for how long and at what venue. I like to "let things happen."

Ultimately I'll conclude that I plan, in depth many of my actions. But I like to play an equal number of actions "by ear", so to speak.

So what's the correct answer? The correct answer is: test is dumb.

It would probably be less invasive to the thread if we do this over :pm:

I agree with you 100%.

It wouldn't make sense to answer "no" in either case he presented. He clearly said his answer would depend upon the situation. The question doesn't present itself as dependant on any variables; so, in his case, and mine on some of the questions, the correct answer would be to not answer.

Well, if neither choice applies to you, and you answer anyway, the test gets a half-true perspective of you, thus inevitable giving a semi-accurate assessment.

the correct answer would be to not answer.

Well that's no fun.

Well, if neither choice applies to you, and you answer anyway, the test gets a half-true perspective of you, thus inevitable giving a semi-accurate assessment.

No, the questions are formed so that a person will answer "yes", or "no".  There really isn't room for middle ground, or a "not applicable" response.

I took the test twice, because many of the questions I could have answered both yes or no. It's all extremely variable, as Sheekle said.

Apparently I'm both

ENTJ
Frank, decisive, assume leadership readily. Quickly see illogical and inefficient procedures and policies, develop and implement comprehensive systems to solve organizational problems. Enjoy long-term planning and goal setting. Usually well informed, well read, enjoy expanding their knowledge and passing it on to others. Forceful in presenting their ideas.

and

INTP
Seek to develop logical explanations for everything that interests them. Theoretical and abstract, interested more in ideas than in social interaction. Quiet, contained, flexible, and adaptable. Have unusual ability to focus in depth to solve problems in their area of interest. Skeptical, sometimes critical, always analytical.

Good for you! Another reason these tests are silly, why should your personality be restricted to one type and not the other. What if you excel at both these types?

That's it, from now on I'm becoming the first EINSFTPJ or we can rearrange that as
FINEST PJ. :crazy2:
