I must say, now that I am used to it I don't think I can ever go back to sugar and cream.
Starting to feel like a man.
I'm just drinking Tim Hortons coffee I got for christmas, anyone got any favorite beans they would like to share?

I like black with maybe 1 or 2 scoops of sugar just for the sugar high. But yeah black coffee has more caffeine really puts that hair on your chest.

The lighter the roast of the beans = more caffeine. Coffee beans lose caffeine in the roasting process and the darker = the more lost.
Highlander Grogg is a pretty available blend that a few companies make I think. It is delicious.
Buy a coffee bean grinder and make sure you are making coffee with freshly ground beans. Adds for more flavor and fuller coffee.
I'm a barista and know a touch about coffee. These are just a few facts that came off the top of my head but let me know if you've got particular questions.

That's some interesting stuff to know. Maybe I'll turn this into a new hobby.
I remember reading somewhere that we are gonna run out of coffee in the next ten years. Is this true or just a conspiracy?

About the coffee coming to an end: As far as I know it is a somewhat accurate speculation.
Sort of unrelated but there is also something called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and it very well mean the end of honey. Did a lot of research on this one and it sucks and is very scary.

Every January my buddy and his wife go to Jamaica, and I have them bring me back a 1lb bag of authentic Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans. I think that's some of the best coffee there is, its crazy expensive though, its like $40 for a 1lb bag but I only get it once a year so its like a treat and worth it to me. And yeah Hawaiian Kona beans are really good too.

Great.. I know how to make coffe too.. even though I am uneducated.. I remember being at a coffe bar once, and I got this one from Coloumbia... got me really speady.. dont think they laced the coffe with something? Itprobably just was my tolerance being ridiculously low at the time though...
I am probably not going to buy an grinderthing.. I be off with my mortar... alot of work though, but thanks for the caffein tipper.. didnt know that.. though it seems reasonable..cant help but love the taste of a little coal though... maybe this other coffe was lightly toasted then? I cant seem to remember the taste, or rest of that day either, really... only remember the look on my face, evn though that is quite impossible, according to popular belief anyway..
do you know anything about tea? I am a teadrinker for the most part... though I am detoxing now so to speak... like green tea mainly.. my favorite being a Vietnamese one.. quite cheap too, so thats a pluss.. Also like yinzen, though it is a tough one to get right, so I need my thermometre ect... those idiots selling it to me giving me too hot off a temperature for it, and it would get this nasty sting of bitterness each time... a few degrees lover and one minute longer, it be sweet and round..
enough of my rambling then... Sekhmet bliss you in slaughter..

Yeah my bro drinks only single source coffee because of all the diseases that are plaguing coffee. Most coffee is blended from all sorts of places so they gotta treat it McDonalds style with pink ooze or something to make it "safe" to drink. I really hope that the world isn't headed in the way it seems to be and somehow nature saves our asses. I know people aren't gonna change, maybe our environment can adapt? Probably by killing us off I guess.

I think the world would probably come to a grinding halt without coffee, but then we'd just use one of the other stims available I guess. There's no shortage and coffee is delicious but kinda weak IMO.
I like it black, except first thing in the morning I put in milk. I do like to have some sort of sweet pastry with my coffe though. That is about it good as it gets on the legal side of things if you ask me.

I can't imagine a world without coffee, that's like some alternate reality type shit. I think the world would freak out with something so commonly being used being taken off the market.
Coffee is way too ingrained in society.

i like coffee it makes me happy.
roasting doesn't effect caffeine levels. or only in trivial amounts.
lately almost boil a pot of water, throw in about 6g per ounce of water, then wait about 30 seconds and filter it through a metal screen. i dunno i like it.

I use an espresso machine at home. I usually do a double shot, mixed with about 8 ounces of whole milk. If I can afford it, I'll get some heavy whipping cream and use anywhere from half a tablespoon to a whole tablespoon.
I don't use sugar whatsoever. Although during the holidays, I'll get some pumpkin spice syrup from starbucks and will use that in my at home lattes.
The coffee I use is World Market brand. I get whatever I'm in the mood for, be it moka java, costa rica, french roast, italian roast, guatemala, etc.
I use world market brand because it tastes dank and they have a coffee rewards program where if you purchase 6 bags of coffee, you get one for free. If I buy it on wednesdays, I get double coffee points, which gets me my free bag faster.

Cream and sugar destroys the taste of coffee. I do like a little bit of milk though.
To truly enjoy coffee you need a burr grinder to have freshly ground beans. I recently switched to using an AeroPress with the inverted brewing method and it makes the best coffee I've ever had.
Don't go for some commercial coffee beans - find a local roastery that roasts fresh beans every day.
The place by me has the Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, I believe it's around $35/lb. I've never tried it. I typically buy stuff in the $8-15/lb range.

the roast has a minimal effect on caffeine. caffeine content relies more on the beans themselves.
as for drinking, it's either black or blended with grass-fed cow butter, and mct oil. that shit gets me higher than a mofo.

that study is about farm feed. but they are also prevalent in coffee beans. not high enough levels to warrant an alarm by the american FDA. but high enough to see negative effects.

My brother would say that this is the chemicals the put in to kill the fungus or w/e that is plaguing coffee. Thats exactly how he described it.
Coffee gives me a great feeling in my stomach first thing in the morning, but normally I can barely notice a difference in energy levels. I am on the higer end of the energy spectrum though, never once have I felt like I've needed coffee to stay up. I just drink it cause it tastes good and is everywhere, oftentimes for free.

I was thinking about getting one of those presses eventually. Seems like they are getting more and more popular.
My counselor broke out with one at my last appointment and gave me a cup of black coffee, since then I have been drinking it that way.
I like the bite now.

I would highly recommend a metal screen to go with it. I love the oils and you lose them if you use a paper filter. The AeroPress with a metal screen makes better coffee than a french press and it leaves NO fines in the cup whatsoever.

I take mine black, too. I've been making Americanos lately, boiling water on the stove and pouring it over espresso.
that's what i do at mcdonalds. their espresso shots are $1, i ask them to fill the rest of the cup with hot water.
Well I pour the boiling water over the espresso grounds, but I think watering down espresso is technically an Americana too

An americano is pouring water into an espresso shot to water it down and add volume to be drank like an american style coffee. Just because you use dark (espresso) beans doesn't make it an espresso. You need to use an espresso machine which uses around 9 bars of pressure.
Pouring water over coffee is aptly called a pourover.

Black coffee is also healthier than pouring sugar and cream into you stomach every morning, better for your teeth too. I actually like the taste of coffee so black is the way to go and grinding the beans make for a fresher tasting cup. Well I guess it's time to go make some.

Well.. CS, or real teas will never pack a punch as you said, like coffe does, but there are full bodies black teas which are round and strong in taste... I know of a quite cheap Golden Downy which is a favourite of mine amongst black teas..
If you get into spiced teas and herbql teas, they might pack quite the punch as you said.. some chai thing with capsacin or something, and peppermint oil.. it will be burning and freezing at once...
if you want bitterness, I recommend Calea Zacatechichi...

I would never trust McDonald's employees to be pouring espresso shots for me
Also, OP I know a little about tea (mostly kratom tea) but that one is in a league of its own and I feel America in general is a little behind on it. I like black and chai teas a lot but other than that, I can't give you much info on them.

McDonald's espresso is identical to any other big chain with shitty automatic machines. They just push a button and "espresso" comes out. It's always garbage though. You have to go to a real coffee shop if you want good espresso.

Ahh alright.. I thought they were going through the process of grinding, tamping and pouring. Continue on McDonald's you may make espresso in peace.

it'll make a mess of your machine, but take like a teaspoon of ground espresso and throw it in the basket. The take like a teaspoon of cinamon and throw it on top. top off the basket with espresso and do your tamping thangs. Throw another teaspoon of sugar on top. run it.

I've done espresso and topped the basket with raw sugar before tamping a few times. It's apparently called a 'Cuban shot'. I think I'll try adding cinnamon to it as well because that sounds amazing.
I just made a banana mocha and drizzled cinnamon on top. That was delicious
