Ideas for Full Moon Parties
#19341711 - 12/29/13 02:02 PM (10 years, 1 month ago) |

I have a very spacious yard, with trees, a pool, and ever all just really good vibes. I also live pretty far away from my nearest neighbors house, which has been getting me thinking.
So I have decided to start throwing Full Moon parties on my property!
My neighbor when I lived in California was like an executive or some shit at JBL, and was best friends with his daughter for many many years until we moved away. So I sent him some messages and it looks like he should be able to really hook me up with just what I need as far as sound is concerned.
I would want the parties to all naturally be free, and like I said I want them all to be on full moons, which there is one of every month. Every full moon also has it's own name given to them by the Native Americans, I was planning on naming each party after those names. http://www.farmersalmanac.com/full-moon-names/ For instance, January is called Wolf Moon, and Feduarys Snow Moon.
I want the thing to be a pretty downtempo, ambient, psychedelic, bass music type of feel to it.
I was planning on adding on more and more special effects such as projectors, lasers, fog machines and the such as time went on and more people started coming. But my question to you guys is what are some really cool and fun ideas you might want to see at a full moon party?
I had been planning on brewing up a bunch of tea before hand to pass out for free at the events. I was also planning on making custom patches for each event, and possibly pins in the future if the idea takes of, but who knows. I have a lot of really good artist friends so it would be cool to have a art section too, who knows perhaps some slack-lining?
I was also thinking something like this might be cool for the Snow Moon party, it also works for bubbles and fragrance. http://www.amazon.com/Froggys-Fog-Machine-Outdoor-Parties/dp/B000HAZ09Y/ref=sr_1_1/178-2781108-6926921?ie=UTF8&qid=1388350782&sr=8-1&keywords=snow+machine
You guises ideas would be AWESOME! I wanna make this thing legit!

An "anything but clothes" theme is always a good choice. I've seen a zombies & strippers theme go off really well too.

I used to have a yard but they plowed it out of there. I think the companies deciding to just remove the entire landscape from existence. The approval was forwarded by the head of state who didn't show any reluctance to accepting the proposal to have the landscape destroyed & replaced with a new yard.
The owner of the house left to go visit someone in town & people went inside & threw out all of the furniture & ripped the wallpaper. They then put a match on the stove with oil on an unsteady corner, which you could see was about to fall any moment, and did.
When he got home his house was burned, in ruins. He had nowhere to sleep for 3 years after that fateful event. He had plans to fly to New York to put in a call to a detective to solve this crime, but the line was dead, someone must have clipped the line. All the phones in the city had been terminated so connection with another was highly improbable. You wouldn't be able to get through with any phone available. They found his cell phone with all his friends number inputted in & decided to delete every last one of them so they had their connections cut.
They would have noone they could contact and noone they could go. He knew he aws going to have to find a place to sleep for the night but they burned down his house & he no longer did. His brother just sold a coffee shop that thrived for a year but then suddenly went under. A week before he invested half of his stock earnings into a pub in Ireland, but even that wasn't looking like it'd work out. For another business man put in a request to purchase that pub. With both of them desiring this pub and only one coming out true owner of it.

I'm still talking with him and he is trying to understand what exactly I need them for so we can make sure I get just what I need. So I am not too sure quite yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting them at cost, I wouldn't be surprised if I got them for less when everything is said and done.
And yes, I have heard of other full moon parties going on around me... I had not planned on worrying about that unless I needed to, as far as I'm concerned CO has more than enough of a population that would interested in such a party to support multiple parties going on.

Well, lets see
If I were throwing a full moon party, I'd want
projectors, lasers and fog machines as you've already said, that's a great start bubble machines tiki torches (as vinsue suggested) lanterns, both paper and metal hammocks prayer flags other kinds of flags, triangle shaped ones giant outdoor incense sticks drums, guitars, flutes blankets, pillows/scatter cushions and persian styled rugs around and near the trees, lots of them given that it's a spacious environment tapestries plenty of plants and flowers including palm trees, ficus/figs, that sort of thing lots of giant, well presented fruit platters set spaces for tents depending on whether it's overnight boxes of doves to release throughout the night why not bails of hay glow sticks and sparklers ice sculptures water, more than you'll think you need large supply of red and white wines, tea, mushrooms, cactus, LSD (also in punch bowls)
that's all I've got for now
oh and nobody should be uncomfortable should they want to be nude, so add naked people to the list
it's a private woodstock in Sara's backyard

Nah. Just a large selection of different teas.
If I'm already supplying the LSD punch and the wine, folks can bring their own MXE if that's what they're into.

Would you be serving fresh tea? Like people could snip their own fresh leaves from a CS? I want to buy a CSseed so I may grow a plant, and get my tea from there... you would be keeping to pure teas, or would you aromatize them? Would recommend black tea from india.. green tea from Vietnam and whkte and yellow from china... donno bout oolong though...

I was thinking just stock up on a large variety of fancy teas in teabags as it would be easier to handle for a large number of people
Given that, all you'd have to worry about as far as the tea goes is boiling water, which would be easy enough with those big metal keg/like things for events that keep it hot. IDK what they're called.

this reminds me. if you want to keep it more psychedelic/spiritual, dont have a keg or free alcohol. people who want to drink will bring their own, and less alcohol will mean a less chaotic, more conscious party. saves you and your friends some money too.
also, i highly recommend making the party by donation. this allows everyone to come for free while reminding them that they can kick you down some money if they have a good time. many of my forest parties have been funded by donations from the previous ones. have your friends let people know who they can donate to, and if you trust your peers enough put out a donation box, altho let me tell you it will really hurt the first time somebody steals it.

Depends if you're having one of those "tell people to bring people to bring people" kind of party. Thats when you have things missing from your house the next day. But yeah i agree mostly bout that...less beer equals more fun for EVERYONE.

I know, the talk of kegs just reminded me. Tea is a great idea. My friend sets up a chill area with pillows & a little table at events and serves a whole bunch of different kinds of teas, has a bunch of crazy crystals out in a pattern, its pretty dope. Its always good to take a break from dancing for a minute to recharge and reheat with natural energy!

envix 3 coyotes were in our courtyard eating a rabbit like 2 weeks ago.
2 of them were afraid and walked off but one of them ate the rabbit. I wanted to yell at it to tell it not to kill stuff and just eat grass like the rabbits but i would have been a hypocrite.

Thank you everyone for your ideas so far! I have read each and every post and I am taking them all into consideration.
Another thing I forgot to add, your suggestions as far as music goes would be equally appreciated. I plan on playing mostly ambient psycadelic bass music, but who knows, as parties go by I will judge what people like, and I can chose my music selection from there.
But of any of you want to show me some music you made you want me to play, and I decide to play it, I'll make sure to give credit where credit was due.

Not until January 15th. http://www.farmersalmanac.com/full-moon-dates-and-times/
And I am personally not much of a drinker so I don't plan on having any kegs there, but I have been debating the idea of having wine there. I also definitely plan on making it all donation based.
Another thing. Ya I'm not at all concerned with cayotes, sure I hear them outside my house almost every night. Bit they don't really fuck around with people. I'm sure the bass and the revelery would scare them off. Timid lil guys.
