when mixing agar, preheat or no preheat before pressure cooking?

quote from RR:
"If you're mixing the individual ingredients, you normally need to boil the agar-agar first before pressure
cooking.  If you're using a lab grade premix such as from fungi.com you don't need to boil first."

Is he perhaps talking about the kind of agar that comes in solid chunks?

I'm learning about no-pour agar and I use powdered agar that dissolves with nutrient water at room temperature.  So is there any advantage to pre-heating the agar then pouring it into the container, or should I just put it straight in, put the lid on and pc it?

Will there be any difference in condensation levels afterward?

If all your ingredients go into solution without heating, then you're good to just mix it up and PC it.

Even some premixes (MEAY from Mushroom Depot, for instance) need pre-heating to get things to go into solution.  I did a substantial heat/stir on that mix, and there was still some light sedimentation left over.
Not that it did any harm, mind you.  I've got some excellent looking transfers growing on those right now.  Taking off like wildfire!

Your agar shouldn't go into solution at room temperature--at least, not in the amounts needed to gel up.  I always heat my agar to dissolve prior to pressure cooking.

I use the Now brand powder and when I sprinkle it on the surface of the water it becomes clear, and mixing it with a spoon seems to make it go into solution, but it doesn't harden until It's heated then cooled, but the pc can take care of that.
