More splitting?

Hey all, I noticed another cap on another cake to be splitting, this one however is a different strain? Pics 1 and 2 are of the new splitting cap, third pic is the previous one I posted about. Any ideas? Will these be safe to eat?

Probably mutations, as was probably stated in your other post. Just leave then alone for a few days, over-handling isn't going to help any of them. If they stop growing and turn black then remove them, otherwise they are fine to eat just harvest when the veil breaks.

Thanks man, it made me worry some kind of bacteria is spreading in there bc I have the splitting happening on new different 2 different cakes now. Could it be possible I have mutants from 2 different strains?

Ty but I def wont say its from rapid growth, The big splitting pins are 4-5days old now. I may try a different method, or perhaps stick with cakes until I get em down.

Mutations can be environmental or strain related; if you post pics of your full setup and watering schedule people will usually identify any weaknesses quickly on here.............

These consolidated for about 10days a tad longer than a weeek. I wonder if it could be the time of year? Winter and all, its very dry in my house, 40% humidity but a steady 90-99% in my SGFC. Maybe the dry air coming in with FAE?

Im growing from MS from 4 difrent syringes and iv had a few mutants on each of my five tubs. some split some had no veils some just dident look rite. I was worried at first but now my only problem is there isn't enough room in my dehydrator. As long as they keep growing I wouldn't worry to much.

Update, started a new grow, different genetics, same set up and MORE splitting. Any idea what this can be? It looks the same as previously stated.

I wonder if it can be due to the winter months making the RH in my house 30-40%? Could that low RH air going into my sgfc cause this? my set up stays at 99% most of the time.

I would speculate that the lower RH outside the sab would make more evaporation from the cakes/pearlite.. but I doubt it would harm the mushrooms, considering the RH inside the SAB doesn't change much... but maybe someone else knows a bit more on the subject
