myc in jar wont break up!

Yeah. Let my jars sit way too long, now the myc is hard as a mofo and just wont break up. i slammed that shit against so many different objects idk what the hell my down stairs neighbors are thinking..
What can i do?
For my tubs, i just broke it up by hand and put it in the tub. But for G2G, that just isnt an option. would it be safe to use a sterilized spoon to break up the myc inside a SAB? then G2G from there?

I wouldn't dig around with a spoon for G2G even if it was sterilized. That jar would probably be a poor performer for G2G anyway as the mycelium would not be in colonization mode anyway. Dig em out and case.

i don't bother using overly done jars for g2g, your gonna end up with slow colonizing jars i know thats not much help to you but just a heads up i guess lol!

every one of my 10+ jars I used for g2g were colonized and allowed to sit to long
used a long skinny stainless pastry spoon sterilized and did g2g in a sab
using the spoon I literally " scooped " out each spoonfull for each jar.
Worked great

yeah, i know itll be slow colonizing, but any colonization at all would be nice!
i have two strains i want to keep alive, but only one jar of each left. and of course those are the ones i let sit forever.. i gotta try something here!
maybe get a few grains out and do an LC or agar for G2G later, and just tub these guys..?
edit: or do a jmcdoogle, which was my first plan (how did you sterilize the spoon?)

I guess that with my cold ass environment I want my G2G to have everything going for it that it can. If a master gets old I just spawn it to a tray or small tub and usually have many more to replace it.
OP try the spoon if you want but IMO it would be better to use good inoculate for a large number of jars

Cubensis mycelium is usually not that hard to break up unless it's contaminated with bacteria. If you've banged it against a tire or phone book and it's not breaking up, you're probably screwed. Be sure to give it the smell test before using if you dig it out. Definitely don't G2G with it. RR

I had a group of jars I let consolidate for over a month. It will come apart. You just have to have that 'jarring' shake to it. The bike tire is the perfect object but I can get the same affect just by using my hand.

I have done the same thing with a towel on my carpet, busted everywhere. Was a pain in the ass to clean as I had just moved in and didn't have a vacuum yet. I must of hit a nail head or something sticking out of the subfloor.
