Yogi Kava Tea (9 days into Suboxone Withdrawl)
#19337723 - 12/28/13 04:36 PM (10 years, 1 month ago) |

So long story short.
13yrs old oxycodone w/tylenol and hydrocodone 14 yrs old oxycodone 30mg and oxycontin 80mg 17yrs old oxys with needle 18yrs old heroin 20yrs old dead (and then alive again) 22yrs old fresh out of rehab and honest doctor prescribes suboxone. 23yrs old (now) tapered down to 2mg daily and 9 days ago jumped off
The withdrawls have been excruciating. Did some research on kava kava as I have always been interested in it so I went out and found NOTHING at CVS, NOTHING at GNC, so I went to The grocery store and found this yogi kava tea (I'm sure its shitty, but whatever). I've done a lot of research on kava so I added some 2% milk and cold water in a cleaned out powerade bottle (filled it half way) and put 6 tea bags in and I'm just going to keep shaking it until I leave work. Each bag has 78mg's of Kava Root Extract in it. This six bags will do me good? I just want to feel alive tonight and be able to sleep more than two hours a night. An added bonus would be some euphoria if that is even possible with these crappy tea bags. Thanks guys. Wish I could get some pure root NOW!

I came here to recommend Kratom as well. Seems to do the trick for a lot of people. I find Kava to be more like alcohol, and kind of weak.

I recommend only using pure kava kava root powder, the yogi tea packages are the worst possible way of ingestion. They won't be potent at all... In fact, you don't even want to use heat when making kava tea. Order online or go to an herb shop. I get a pound for $26.

Thanks so much for the love and support. It means so much to me. Even through these horrible withdrawls I haven't seriously thought about going back once.

I have heard of it and would like to try it. Any idea where I can get it? As for tonight, I'm going to have to go with the kava because by the time I get out of work all the stores will be closed.

Yes there's a lot of website selling it if you just google "buy kratom", but I believe one of the shroomery sponsors sells kratom too. I don't remember which one but I think they're not in the US although they link to US resellers of their own product.

I do plan on buying the real thing, but for tonight this will have to do. I am soaking 6 tea bags in cold water and cold 2% milk. Think I should add more bags? I bought three boxes lulz. I do understand that the effects will be no where near what real kava root would give me, but considering I'm completely clean (COMPLETELY, not even buds) I would think that I will be a little more sensitive to it.

Kratom affects the same receptors as opiods so this could aid in some relief to withdraws. Funny how sub-docs dont talk about this, most are paid off by the pharmy co. making the suboxen. Keep positive you got over the biggest mountain in your life, it only gets better from here on.

Thanks! As horrible as I feel, I am very satisfied with myself :-)
My doctor really was a good guy. Much better than my previous suboxone doctors. My last doctor put me on 32mg a day and new SHIT about Suboxone. I always had to correct him so he could learn.

Sub docs are shady as shit, but if you are trying to stay clean you might wanna steer clear of kratom.
Also be very wary of alcohol. I found that after I got through the w/d I had a taste for alcohol again after not tolerating it well for so long.
2mg is a pretty high dose to come off, then again below that is usually where I start feeling a little sick for part of the day so it kinda makes sense.

Thanks for that! I wasn't too sure about it. I don't know if it's a good idea to reactivate my opioid receptors and swap one addiction for another.
SO back on topic. (If anyone wants to continue talking about kratom feel free)
I have 6 tea bags in 7 fluid ounces of cold water and 2 fluid ounces of cold 2% milk.
Think I should add more tea bags of this shitty yogi kava tea for more of an effect?
They are 78mg each so I have 468mg of kava root extract in this drink at the moment.

I usually drink 3 tea bags every hour or so to keep a small buzz going. YMMV. I'd say your 6 bag mix is a good place to start. if that doesn't do the trick, try ten.

Haha that's what I was thinking
I'm guessing you mean try my six and then if that doesn't work take four more?
It's been soaking in my cold water and milk mixture for two hours now I'm very excited to get out of work and try it. I'm tempted to drink it now, but that wouldn't be a good idea just in case it REALLY works. Plus all the tea bags broke during the two hours of shaking so I have to strain it out before hand. I'll make another four (six?) tea bag cold mixture now just in case this doesn't work. How long do I wait for it to kick in?

You spent alot of your early life on opiods and others im sure but the opiods are the one that really make people slaves and first taste comes right from your families med cabinet, which create addictive tendencies for life. You might want to stay away but if you do always use as littla as possible. Seems alot of sub docs like to write adderall which to me is just a terrible way to treat an addict, next thing they become meth users. Hope thats not a road you have been down.

I would not overdo it if you are inexperienced, start small and work your way up. I know you want to feel better but the first 2-3 weeks just suck no matter what. Kava might take one of the edges off, and might help you sleep, but I doubt it will make you feel good.
You want to be careful because taking things that make you tired in w/d can be hellish if its not strong enough to put you under. You will be totally exhausted but still awake clucking and all.
Soon you will start feeling human some of the time, like little glimpses of serenity, then those times will be more and more until you get back to normal life. Then the next challenge begins which is staying clean. I fucked that bit up and now I have to kick a 2nd time.
