Year in review: What shows did you go to?
    #19337054 - 12/28/13 01:18 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

What bands did you see and what festivals did you attend this year? I had a pretty awesome year for music, no festivals but I'll be doing a lot of that in the summer

(I'll put the NYE Furthur run in even though it's '12...)
12/29/12 - Furthur
12/30/12 - Furthur
12/31/12 - Furthur
4/21/13 - Jim James
4/23/13 - Furthur
4/24/13 - Furthur
7/10/13 - Kurt Vile
7/14/13 - My Morning Jacket/Wilco/Bob Dylan
8/18/13 - Umphrey's Mcgee/STS9
10/31/13 - Umphrey's McGee
11/01/13 - Umphrey's McGee
11/02/13 - Umphrey's Mcgee
12/28/13 - The Werks

Who did you see??

I saw the Black Crowes a couple of months ago.

Chris & Rich's father passed away the day before, so I think it's pretty cool they still performed.

I saw Tom Petty, Rush, Goo Goo Dolls, and Matchbox 20 this summer.

That was a pretty intense few days. Me and him were on a psychedelic voyage during that week. At one point my friend got arrested for trespassing, so I had to go bail him out of jail.

I'm driving around looking for police to figure out where he is held with 3 ounces of shrooms, 2 ounces of weed, a sheet of acid, half gram of blow, and a ball of dmt in the car.

I was scared shitless to say the least.

Kind of uneventful this year for me as far as concerts go compared to normal.

-Marley Fest at the beginning of the year (always my favorite show/fest of the year)
-The Expendables
-Hed P.E. twice. Second time was last Friday.
-Supervillains
-Authority Zero

That's awesome. I wanted to go that show so bad. I unfortunately missed out on it. I'm sure you had a blast.

Their live sound is super tight, everyone in the band is on point. They mostly played stuff from the new record which I hadn't heard at the time, but having gone and bought it, I think it's their best since Songs for the Deaf.

Here's the setlist from that night.

Right on. I just started listening to their new album about a month ago. I really like it, but it's quite different than their older stuff.
I had Songs For The Deaf pretty much on repeat in my car for the past year.

Thanks for the setlist link.

Way to many shows.  I was at Electric Forest and Summer Camp.  I saw Umphrey's for their three day run in Milwaukee.  IF i had to choose a top 5 it would probably be seeing STS9 (4 times), Infected mushroom, EOTO (3 times), Lotus, and Umprhey's.

fuck dude, shows are expensive, how do you afford that many tickets.

Shows arn't that expensive, although some of the artists on that list would most likely have far more expensive tickets than your typical band.  Most shows I see are less than $25.

I would think a lot of the artists on that list would have tickets in the 50-100$ range.

Also went to krewella and dave chapelle (so sick)

If you have a decent job $50 isn't that much money .  I routinely spend easily that much at the bar on a Friday night.

Yesss that Umphrey's Milwaukee run was EPIC... I lost my mind and found a new one the second night, the single most intense trip of my life. Great music and vibes that whole weekend

Top 3 shows of the year:

Aura Fest
Om Unit
Grammatik

Was a super light year in music for me.  Next year will likely be traveling a lot more.

String Cheese Incident at Electric Forest was good enough to last me a year :omgawesome:

Conspirator was a really fun show, too.

So many good shows listed here; jealous of everybody.

They had these lanterns that looked like jelly fish floating up and down the stage and pulsing to the crescendos of the music.
They came back for an encore and played the song "Knife".  (Have a deep love for this song as it was playing the first time I experienced ego loss) My head opened up like a can of tuna.:woooaaahhh:

Man, let's see if I can remember but it goes something like...

Railroad Earth
Trampled By Turtles
Bassnectar (My friend really wanted me to go, so I went)
Dark Star Orchestra
Moon Taxi
STS9
Grammatik
Some Daft Punk tribute band (it was actually pretty fun)
Tribal Seeds (show was kind of shitty)
Boombox
Phish (3 night run in chicago)
Yonder Mountain String Band

and in between those shows, just some random local shows

--------------------

And when I see you coming down the line
    With eyes wide open
Somewhere in between the past and future
    Where you drift in time
And you can see a different point of view

Yeah, it's a setlist obviously made by fans.

They did another show in January 2013 with a more classic-dead setlist. Although I haven't listened to this one yet, here's the link:

https://archive.org/details/jrad2013-01-26.mtx

The lineup is the same.
