I don't think it is a coumarin, but I am not 100% still trying to wrap my noodle around this stuff.
Hmmmm.......distribution for this mushroom is fairly wide, the fruiting body is covered in asexual spores early in it's season.

It's gotta be Xylarone.

Below: Xylaria hypoxylon which contains this chemical.

Next up, meet The Iceman.

He was discovered along with fungi tissue. One of the fungi was this species:

It contains a chemical that is medicinal. The skeletal structure looks like this:

Name the species of the Iceman, the species of the fungi, the chemical, and tell us three things the chemical can offer humanity.

Ötzi the Iceman is Homo sapiens, the mushroom is Piptoporus betulinus, and the chemical is betulinic acid. Betulinic acid is also found in the bark of Birch trees, which I'm guessing is where the mushrooms get it. It has antiretroviral, antimalarial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties. It is also a chemical derivative of the terpene oleanane.

nicely done! apparently chaga (per wiki) also contains betulinic acid and they speak about it abit here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaga_mushroom
it seems from the birch tree (it said there's a boatload of betulin in the bark)

i'll say one thing, this is serving as a good organic nomenclature review for me, making synapses fire for the first time in twenty years...

this one is a toxin only recently discovered in 2009. it is somewhat insidious in action as it is delayed, which is why it took so long for it to be associated with a mushroom.
i ask only for the correct name and the mushroom(s) it is found in

edit: i was mixing things up that i'd read recently. per the source, this one kills you fairly quickly, 2-3 mushrooms - dead in 12 to 24hrs. and horribly it sounds like.

The next one is another toxin that comes from a pathogenic fungus and is often known to contaminate our food sources.

I will give hints, I am not sure how difficult or easy this will be.
