Is it possible to change from cakes to casing?

I am curious about something. I have read that many prefer casing than cakes here.
I dunked my cakes about a week ago and then I rolled them on verm about a week ago and placed the cakes in my fruiting chamber. I have been fanning and misting for a week now and still have not got any pins. I know this could be normal, I am not worrying too much yet. The mycelium is more spread through the cakes now.
It seems that it is easier to do casing for what I see here in addition of yielding to more shrooms.
I was thinking to maybe break down the cakes and move onto casing. Is it too late to do that now? If not, I believe that this should be the process. Correct me if I am wrong.
- Dunk the cakes again for 24h. - Break down the cakes and blend it with manure. 30% cake - 70% manure. - Place it in a plastic tray and cover it with the lid. - Wait for a week or so for the mycelium to colonize it. - Move it onto the fruiting chamber and upkeep with mist/fanning.
Is this correct? What other options besides manure I have in order to do this (I think manure will stink?) Maybe something easy to buy at a gardening store. And how about the proportions? I believe I have to pasteurize the manure or whatever nutrient I want to add. How do I do that? I know it is not the same as sterilizing.
Any tips for this will be very appreciated.
Also, I do have still three jars that the mycelium hasn't progressed for almost 10 days. There is just s small area of the jar that is not covered, while other areas of the jar are very thick with mycelium. Should I process to fruit those or wait more?
Thanks a lot!

RogerRabbit said: You guys seriously need to stop referring to your substrate trays as 'casings'. That is an incorrect term unless all you have is a casing layer and no manure, grains, or anything. Nobody grows mushrooms on 'casings', period.
The casing layer is only the top layer on a colonized bulk substrate, nothing else. 'Casing' sure as hell isn't a name for a mushroom growing project. RR
Please do not refer to spawning a bulk substrate as a casing. Coir/verm is bulk substrate material.
They used to refer to a bulk substrate as a casing, but now it just adds confusion. Its called a spawning to a bulk substrate, not casing.
A casing layer is a non nutritious top layer usually applied to a fully colonized bulk substrate for moisture retention and pinning. When you do this it is called casing, see where it can get confusing?
I would not spawn those cakes now, just let them be.
Are you misting the cakes directly?

Thanks for letting me know... A friend told me it was casing, so now I know the proper name!
I do not mist directly to them, the spray is about one feet away from the cakes. I do not really know exactly what is a good distance to mist the cakes from, I want to make sure the cakes get the humidity they need, as they were bluing and this is the first flush (and first time I grow.)
So for the coir, also 30% cake - 70% coir? Do I have to sterilize the coir?

Mist the cakes directly with a fine mist until they glisten, then fan out the chamber.
Mist again once the water you previously misted has evaporated.
We mist to replace lost moisture in the cakes.
We fan out the chamber afterwards to promote evaporation of the water we just misted, which is a main pinning trigger.

Awesome, thanks
My friend told me not to mist directly the cakes... lol. I am glad you guys are pointing me into the right direction.
Also, I was fanning and then misting, the opposite way you mentioned it, so I guess I was doing that wrong also. I will mist and then fan from now on
