Air pump with perlite TEK

I am going to try a perlite with air pump terrarium.
Basically I have drilled a few holes an inch from the bottom of the box for co2 extraction, Glued the bottom half of a coke bottle inside the box, punched a hole and fed a hose through the box and bottle sealing up holes with silicone. I will then add water to the bottle with h2o2 mixed in and pump air through it. I will add 2 inches of wet perlite to the tub and I think this will work.
Please discuss

Your opening up a can of worms, you have no idea. I don't want to sound like an asshole, but find a tek that suites you.
If your just starting out, PF Tek all the way. If your knowledgeable in mycology, try a monotub.
Your idea sounds like a PMP. its in the mush cult forum, boxes sub-forum. Its been archived.

You have a lot to learn buddy.
Co2 will not "Drain" out the bottom....it does not sink, it rises to the top of the chamber riding the heat and humidity currents.
Peroxide is useless as fruiting is not a sterile procedure......
If you do not have holes in the very bottom of the tub, having perlite in there is pointless.....air must flow up thru it in order to evaporate the water on it....that is why we only use perlite in SGFCs that have 1/4" holes drilled 2" apart ON ALL 6 SIDES....so the chamber has proper and constant airflow, which should mean constant water evaporating, which means constant high humidity.
JUst build a SGFC for cakes, or a monotub for bulk....no pumps, no humidifiers, no hygrometers.....just perlite and the proper holes for a SGFC for cakes, or polyfill and a few stuffed holes for a monotub for bulk.
Adding electronic things like pumps is just not needed.
You want constant passive FAE so there is constant evaporation.

So firstly I would need holes in the top of the box. How could I get enough humidity? I would like this to be a zero effort terrarium.
I have been using shotgun for ages and its fine but I want to learn another method just as an experiment.
Is there anyway u could see this working and what, if u had to, do to change things to make it work.
I know I have a lot to learn by the way, that's why I'm on here. The hydroxide was just as a precaution to deter contams. As the bubbles burst small amounts of h2o2 are released into the atmosphere. But if u feel I dont need this then I dont need the air to go through water in the first place.

You would need 1/4" holes every 2" on all 6 sides......not just any one or 2 sides....all 6 sides of the cube in a grid pattern.

Have lots of evaporation happening(lots of FAE).

Never gonna happen if you want decent results with cakes....the cakes will have to be manually misted a couple times a day and the chamber will need to be fanned out each time to make room for evaporation of the water you just misted.
You want water constantly evaporating off the cakes.
And with lots of FAE, you will need to mist them for this to happen.

Ok well experiment away.
I am just letting you know how this stuff actually works.
Just my advice, take it or leave it....but I'm not just pulling this info out of my ass.

The peroxide will degrade in a matter of hours, meaning you will have just wasted your time.
You could continually replace it as needed, but that will get unnecessarily expensive.

The only water should be in the water bottle you use to mist....other than that there should be no other water needed....just water to mist on the cakes as they dry off.

So when I add h2o2 to my mister it deteriorates and I need to add more? Ive never heard this before, thanks.
I may just turn this into a shotgun with a pump.
I use rye seed with a casing layer

A SGFC works off the natural currents in a room...mess with these currents(fans, pumps, etc) and the humidity will drop.
Try it....but you will mess with how the chamber is supposed to function.
There is no need to reinvent the wheel here.

Why? Many experts say use h2o2 with your mister to fight of contams as its harmless to Mycelium. Whats your take on this?

it's only good to fight cobweb mold and it's not harmless so i don't know who these"experts are" but perlite doesn't contam because it's a rock and h202 is good for cobweb mold

Using a bit of H202 in the perlite water seems standard. Is there a viable use of H202 in dunking or misting?
Some people say it inhibits growth, which makes me want to avoid direct contact with cakes, and just leave it in the FC bottom.
The only use for peroxide in mycology is for spraying a substrate that has cobweb mold on the surface. Don't use it in the perlite, and for damn sure, don't add it to the dunk water. Peroxide is toxic to fungi, and that includes mushroom mycelium. RR
so yeah i'm sure i know what i'm talking about.

Peroxide is useless on any other contaminant during the growing process. RR

Odd I've been successful with it for years. Maybe I should switch. I've even used it in a dunk. That link was by R.R. Wayne, Ph.D. Maybe hes a different guy.
