external vs. internal stimuli?
    #19330823 - 12/26/13 10:07 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I've searched the forum about reading on shrooms (which seems to be a no) so I was wondering about external stimuli vs. internal. Apparently a heavy "trip" makes it impossible to read. Which I can understand since the visuals and hallucinations might even prevent being able to see print clearly. But what about a low dose? Could that enhance internal stimuli and actual improve the reading experience? Obviously I'm reading a fantasy novel right now. I don't figure the owners manual for my garage door opener is going to improve. I'm looking forward to experienced reports on this.

It will be difficult to follow any kind of train of thought processes to understand reading if you take more than a threshold dose.

I enjoy reading on low doses of acid.

Start with a .5g dose. Every two weeks, increase the dose by .5g until you can no longer comfortably read. Report back.

Yeah me too.

It just depends. If you're only mildly tripping then it's possible and it might just enhance your book. But a good trip, no because you will keep getting distracted.

Yes it does, intensely.  I read an entire long novel "Doomsday Book" by Connie Willis one summer while shroomed every time.  It was fucking incredible.  It's a great book to start with, but this made it REAL.

And that was on full shroom trip dosage every time, about an hour or ninety minutes into it, FWIW.  Exactly the same way that I write, now.:thumbup:

I think an audio book would be much better on mushrooms. I remember on a low dose last year listening to some random youtuber talk about his ayahuasca trips. It was like looking into his mind. All his words turned into images and I could fully understand and see what he was saying.
There's something special about hearing the words out-loud, rather than just reading in your head. It seems to have a deeper impact.

Just my 2p

I suppose everyone reads a little differently, and everyone trips a little differently! So I think the best suggestion so far is to experiment (thank you Cosmic Chieftain!).

I do know that there is a lot of hoopla about the natural resonant factor and getting closer to the universe, etc. regarding the psilocybin experience, but the way I see it it's a matter of how chemicals affect processes. LSD, for example, is proven to break down certain conscious and subconscious filters. That might explain why more experienced (than me) users on this thread report good results on LSD. Psilocybin OTOH seems to be more apt to break down the processing of external stimuli. Not exclusively though. So by the time you dose enough to jingle the internal stimuli the external stuff is all but gone in a maze of hallucinations. Which is an amazing experience, but you wouldn't want to try reading at that point! I've definitely been there and reading was no option!

The reports on this thread are great and I may give a follow up soon.
