its usually just a sponge inside of a piece of plastic that has holes in it. you dip it in water and put it in with your bud.

i dont like spending money when this works just as well if not better

I would try the carrot or orang peel if your not planning on saving the bud and just going to smoke it

Not at all, that's how it's best stored long-term.
IMO the only thing that works without making the flavor worse (i.e. mold), is to mix in a little bit of dry weed with a lot of freshly cured weed. About 1:7
So, my speculation is that best results come from another freshly cured herb. I've always wondered how well tobacco would work, as I imagine most other fresh(ly cured) spices would impart a significant flavor

Always sucks to have some really dry bud that just crumbles. As some people have mentioned, use some orange peels and throw the bud in a ziplock bag with the peels.
Then throw it in your fridge for 24 hours. If it gets too wet it'll be worse than it being dry because it won't burn. Just keep an eye on it. I personally think you should just smoke they dry bud than tampering with it.

Just use a small piece of tortilla, put it in the jar. Check every 6 hours until it is moist enough for you. Tortilla won't cause mold, over moistening, or a change in the taste or smell of your cannabis.

I purposefully dry all my buds... If I get moist buds I put them in a container w/ desiccant. When you remove the H2O, you get more THC in ur body... Its been proven, look it up. The only reason to keep buds with ANY moisture is for shipping & handling or ripping people off. If its too harsh... its because you're burning more weed w/ less heat. Which is another good thing... Hold the lighter farther away or load smaller hits.

Store your weed in a mason jar, Slightly dampen a paper towel, Make sure it's moist, but not enough to drip at all. When you close the lid to your jar keep the damp paper across the top of it. In a little time it should be "rejuvenated." Just make sure not to over do it, keep an eye on it. Seeing as I don't have any idea of how dry/ how much herb you have, It would be impossible to give you an estimate on time but we're talking hours.

I found this on 420Magazine.com. Seems like it does the trick:
Quote:
Adding moisture to a smoking bag of over-dried, crispy buds is easy. All you need is a sealed container (A Ziploc bag or a 1-quart jar works good), fresh fan leaves and about a day’s time.
1) Put your over dried buds into a Ziploc bag or a 1 quart mason jar (I prefer the mason jar).
2) Add a few freshly cut fan leaves (fresh shoots work great too) to your jar or baggie. I use about 3-5 leaves to half a mason jar. Start with a few leaves; add more leaves as necessary. Fan leaves will become dry and shriveled when they given up their moisture.
If fresh leaf is unavailable, a small piece of lettuce, or apple/orange/potato peel can be used as well. A paper towel with a few drops of water on it also does the trick.
3) The final step is to wait about a day. How long it takes depends on how much bus in the container and how dry the buds were. It has worked as fast as 5 hrs.
Check the container at least once a day. The buds will have a nice, soft texture will not feel crispy or brittle when they are ready. They will smell better too!
Editor’s note: To re-moisten larger amounts of dry bud, simply scale everything up. You may want to seperate large and smaller buds into seperate containers. Once a day, turn the pile of buds over to expose the bottom buds. Check for any signs of rot. The process may take 1-3 days.

Yeah it's great for crumbling to roll joints. The joint can be moistened after rolling for slower burning. Much better to buy too because you're not paying for water weight.
