Need ID on an cool looking tree (acasia or mimosa?)
    #19326008 - 12/25/13 03:50 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Need help to ID this tree.  I absolutely love them and would like to plant a few around my house, but I'd like more information before I do so.

Any Ideas?

Not Acacia.

Could be hostilis, the third pic looks very similar to it. Looks a bit big for one thou.

That's kinda what I was thinking, but it's my understanding that Momosa hostilis has thorns.  These trees are thornless :shrug:  Also, their 15-20 feet tall... hope that helps a little.

I REALLY want to plant some of these, but I wont do so until I know what they are!

It's definitely an Acacia. Compare to A. baileyana.

THANKS Karode13!

After looking a little more in depth I think your right, it is A. baileyana AND a couple of them planted strategically will do exactly what I want!  My plan is to plant a few of them in my front yard to act as a living wall inorder to increase my front yard privacy :-)

<SNIP>

Does anyone know if  A. baileyana has any medicinal value?

Mod edit: No trading in here, keep it in the marketplace.

I've got a TON of seeds if anyone is interested shoot me a :pm:  Just keep in mind that they are HIGHLY invasive in some regions/soil conditions.

0.02% apparently, but that could just be from one sample. You'd need to grow them and find out. Grow A.Confusa rather:P
