Some genetics help--mycellium getting mixed?
    #19326932 - 12/25/13 09:13 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Hello Folks,
Go easy on me, my training is in chemistry.

From what I understand, a spore differs from a seed in that the spore is haploid and contains only half the required genetic information. (ie, one single spore cannot go to fruit).

I was doing some reading on liquid culture and agar culture, and one of the TEKs mentioned that mycellium from two different mushrooms can genetically mix too.  The mycellium is diploid, isn't it?

What is that process called?  Has anyone played around with crossing mycellium cultures to make hybrids?
