My newest culture 1

I put some spores on agar from some prints I made from my first pf tek grow last spring. The variety was cambodian. I made 3 transfers so it's not completely isolated but probably limited to only very few sub-varieties.
I inoculated a grain jar with an agar wedge. It took over 3 weeks to fully colonize and then I g2g it to 7 jars. When those were fully colonized I stored one in the fridge and spawned a tub with the other 6
I used 1 brick of coir, 2 qts of verm, and a handful of gypsum. I pasteurized it on the stove top in gallon ziplock bags using franks tek. I spawned it in a 66 qt tub on Dec 13th
Here is some pics of its progress. It's knotting up very heavily and I'm starting to see a few pins popping up. I've never had a tub knot up this heavy. Hopefully that is a good sign

I'll throw up some more pics in a couple days when it is a little further along

I've grown several tubs from a few different cultures and I've never had one knot up like that. Idk if it's a good thing or not Guess I'll find out soon. Its looking like a nice pin set. Just hope they grow huge!

Yea, those aren't knots. Those are mutant blobs. Have fun harvesting those. It's also recommended to harvest them before your "first true flush," in order to allow your mushrooms to grow properly.

Probably genetics. My old Amazonian clone would produce 2-5 mutant blobs on the first flush every time.

how does one harvest a blob i wonder?
TL, was that amazonian clone an isolate or like a fruit body clone? cause i had that happen with an amazonian BRF cake once, but it may not have been consolidated long enough, i guess similar to what cronicr had mentioned

Blobs are super easy to harvest. Normally, they aren't attached to the substrate nearly as well as a standard fruit. That being said, I still cut closest to the substrate on blobs that don't easily come off.
It was a fruit clone. & I always let my tubs consolidate long enough.

You can harvest the blobs, just be sure to not disturb the pins.

Bah, just spawn it and be rid of it. I am in a similar boat with a set of very nice clone genetics....but it is proving to be the slowest thing I have ever cultivated. A few days ago I decided to start dumping off agar wedges in rapid fire, and to add extra grain to any project. Its just like dating. Keep a backup or 2 near.

whippy...what u mean by "dumping off agar wedges in rapid fire" and "to add extra grain to any project"? just curious u mean if u had, like storm rider, an x tra jar or two in fridge from previous project to just add it to next project, like an ms grow, to increase spawn/sub ratio?
in other words, say u had 2 qts of grain spawn that were isolates, and u added them to a mono with 4 more qts of MS grain spawn...would this be more beneficial than a pure MS grow, or end up being just the same?

Basically Im getting rid of that cloned genetics as fast as I can, and won't be restocking.
I am dealing with a set of genetics that came from a monster fruit. What I meant earlier is that I will be getting rid of the cloned genetics by simply inoculating grain, and moving forward. I won't be keeping this particular culture any longer. I did 10 grain jars the other day with it, and it will most likely be the last.
By adding extra grain, I mean that I generally will use 1 quart of grain in my mini-mono and 5 in a 66qt tub....I will be increasing the amount of spawn basically to get rid of it, but not "waste" it. My mini monos will be up to 2 qts, and my 66 qt tubs will be up to 7 qt.
To give you an idea. A slightly isolated PE genetics are almost done colonizing jars, while this clone of mine (non-pe) has barely got to the point of first shake.

I think it might end up being a decent culture. I'm probably still going to put it on the back burner for a while. It took a long time to colonize and fruit plus I got a lot of other cultures I want to play with.
I got some lc syringes just the other day from this really cool chick I met that lives a couple towns over. She gave me a gt, a b+, and a Pf classic lc. I've heard the Pf classic doesn't like growing on grains and bulk. I'm going to test it anyway
I've also got a wild Aussie culture and a wild Texas culture I'm working on. Oh and I just put some maz spores on agar. It's too cold to ride motorcycles so I figured I'd need some stuff to keep me busy over the next couple months
