It definitely doesn't use your IP address. It got that I'm from St. Louis, but I live in Florida.

What do I call it when people are selling their shit? Well, I call it a garage sale if they're selling it out of a garage and a yard sale if they're selling it on their yard.
What do I call the road where you drive fast? Well, it depends. If I'm driving on a thru-way I call it a thru-way. Why would I call 90 in New York a freeway or a highway when it's neither free nor high
There were a few that I use interchangeably. At some point I started using y'all sometimes instead of you guys. I also started splitting between pop and soda.
When I read stuff about this study a while back it absolutely blew my mind that sunshower was a regional thing. Also that there were names other than potato bug.
In general though it was fairly accurate. North East stuff, but not New England. Had me in Patterson, NJ and somewhere else in that area ( did this a few days ago, don't remember exactly). The weird one was DC, and one of the questions they cited as the reason for that was one of the ones I took issue with anyway. I think maybe Rochester was the other one.
I have never heard of the term potato bug. I always used "roly poly." I have also only used the term "freeway," because when you are on the freeway, you are free to go?
Also freeways are free to travel on, if you're paying to use the freeway then we call it a toll road.
I also split between soda and coke. Coke if it's brown, like all Pepsi and Dr Pepper and Coca Cola is called Coke. If it's anything else it's just soda.

I doubt it would change so much in twenty years. None of my family from the Rochester area calls it pop. I dunno, all of my experience just makes me think it's weird it was so common for you.
I also find this things interesting. When the study first started popping up on my Facebook and shit last spring I asked so many of my friends what they call things and stuff like that.
I rarely use freeway, but when I do it's comparing/contrasting from the Thru-way or some other toll road.

I've never heard of anyone associating the term "freeway" with lack of toll road status until now. I thought freeways were just major highways with onramps and offramps and no intersections. Everyone around here just calls them both highways though.

Me neither. You've somewhat redeemed yourself from your earlier comment about pop.
Freeway to me is a term they use in California.

Didn't you say before you were born/raised in Alton for the few years? Sounds like your parents rubbed off on you
I took this yesterday, and got Springfield MO, Lexington KY, and (I think) Louisville KY. I took it again, because I couldn't remember the third, and got some different questions. I also got different results, this time Tucson AZ, Albuquerque NM, and Louisville KY.
I'm from St. Louis, but I've lived in ABQ and Phoenix AZ

^This. On the quiz, I answered 'highway,' but in life I call it what it is (ie I75, I40, SR52, etc) Toll roads in my area have names like "Suncoast Parkway" and "Florida Turnpike," so I call them by their names.
