Noob Grow Log! ATL#7

Second post, woohoo! Well, I joined the forum because I wanted to grow, and I figured I should probably report how it's going!
I'm growing for sclerotia using ATL #7 from a sponsor (they're great people! I messed up my order and they were really great about putting up with me hehe). I inoculated about two weeks ago (12/12/13) and today I finally saw definitive signs of growth in a few bags.
I'm doing a bit of an experiment. I'm using mycobags for all of it, but I'm using different substrate in each one. What's funny is I spent a week trying to find rye berries, and of course two days after I inoculate I happen to stumble across them. Gahhhhh
So, details: 5 mycobags total 2 with whole wheat groats (from Whole Foods) 1 with Quinoa (a tri-color mix, again from Whole foods) 1 with a mix of whole wheat and quinoa 1 with a mix of cooked brown rice, quinoa, and the groats
I decided to try quinoa because it has a shit ton of nutrients and it's a nice round size (spheres have the most surface area and area between each other, and that seems to be key for sclerotia).
Well, it seems that my hypothesis was correct. Even though it's taking a reallyyyy long time (sadly enough, I can't get their temp above 68...) I see white! I see the most in the bag with the tri-color quinoa, second most in the groats, and about the same as the second most in the quinoa-groat mix bag. It doesn't look like they're contaminants either, because the spots are right where my inoculation sites were.
Yay ^.^ I'll try to post pictures later! I'm really excited that my first project is coming under way so nicely!

Please edit your post to remove the vendor's name. The spores he sold you were for microscopy only.
Sclerotia are fun! I'm glad they're going well for you. Be prepared for those bags to take a really, really long time--the mexicana group are very slow colonizers. Keep us posted!

Hahaha! No that's the quinoa and yeah I think there's too much moisture in them.I don't think I drained it for long enough but I'm hoping it'll be okay in the long run since sclerotia bags need to sit there for months. But idonno...

high moisture content usually leads to bacterial contaminations, keep us posted

Quick question: should I break up the mycelium clumps at some point? I'm worried that in bags it would hurt the mycelium more than just shaking in a jar.
