just ditch the TIT and put your jars on a shelf at room temp as long as your house isn't to cold they should colonize just fine.
I threw out my incubator a while back and my jars colonize 100% in 7-10 days

I got the bottom temp ~80 by adding hot water The top of the inner-tub is at 70. I'm going to increase the water height in hopes of fixing this.
The bubbler location though. Can that be modified? I mentioned before that there is air pocket area where I was worried air would accumulate. Well it turns out, the Airstone being in the center causes air bubbles to accumulate there. Then, periodically, a massive air bubble will come up to the surface, shaking the whole TiT. I'm going to try moving the airstone to a side, as well as the heater.
On a side note, my ziptie blew off. Going to get stronger better ones lol.
These are all common issues with the setup.
I double zip tip the ends. The bubbler, making that big bubble? I call it the "bloop" and it won't hurt a thing. It keeps the water moving around nicely and things evenly heated.
My water temp is around 80F and the internal temp of the tub when empty is a few degrees cooler. The height of the water should not make a huge difference, so long as it is at least 1/4 of the way up the inner tub.
With jars in there, it can get warmer, so keep an eye on the inner tub temp

Get yourself the smallest aquarium powerhead you can find and use that in lieu of the air pump. It will make a whole lot less racket, AND generate a small bit of heat itself. I had mine in a corner aimed down the long end, and it mixed the water pretty well.

Haha, the bloop is a fitting name for that noise. I was thinkin about wrapping the bottom with a space blanket to try to keep the ambient room temp from coolingthings down too much. actually I will do that now and see if it helps at all

I get a fluctuation of about 3 degrees from 80. So when I check it at any given time it will read somewhere between 77 and 83 but rarely does it go below or above 79 / 81. Doesn't seem to hurt anything.

You're really overthinking this man.
Your incubator sounds like it was working just fine.
