Look at these two old bills--one of them says 'in silver payable to the bearer' and the other says 'in gold coin payable to the bearer....




Take a look at the money now.  It says 'Federal Reserve Note'  and 'IN GOD WE TRUST'

Yea it's pretty weird. I got a dollar bill a couple weeks ago in my change that was from the 1935 series. It was in really good shape as well. It was trippy to see on the bottom it said something along the lines of "this note is a promise to pay silver to the holder." I don't remember the exact wording...

I think having "in god we trust" printed on our money is so outrageous. I don't know how people that don't believe in god haven't really made an effort to get this changed. Or maybe they have, and the government and media refuses to acknowledge their requests. :shrug:

But krOnikO remember it says in god we trust it does not specify any particular god for all practical purposes it could just as well mean Odin or Zeus or any number of gods There are literally hundreds of gods people hold in reverence . So any half decent lawyer could strike down every argument against "In God We Trust" . The only people who would have a valid argument seems to me would be agnostics ,

gold and silver are mere metals, they only hold value to those that value
them, if I have no use for gold then what's it worth to me, a handful of

I often wonder if being raised by a Federal Reserve executive was worth it, but his stories of trolling conspiracy theorists justified any partisan damage he instilled.

Generally speaking now about politics as well as money. I just personally feel that religion shouldn't be involved in any way with those two things, but they always are. You get what I'm trying to say?

I dont see what the big deal is, a few words on money doesnt convert people
to religion, some folks seem to get worked up over a few words that have

Pris, a good point but what worries me isn't the effect on confidence in capital, but rather whether the dollar itself is backed by anything that is substantial without regard to its collateral (namely gold and/or silver from cursory history lesson flashbacks and OP's stuff).

BTC is just so fucking unstable right lately though.

There are only about 6 billion ounces of gold on this planet. Times $1200/ounce = ~ $7 trillion for the entire value of all the gold.

The US operates a $16 trillion economy.

World GDP is around $85 trillion.

So backing any currency with the full faith and credit of $7 trillion worth of gold would be retarded. Maybe you should tell your hero Ron Paul about this.
