They look _a lot_ like those. You're arguing with the wrong crowd here. People here actually have experience with the species whose names they carelessly fling about.

Ah, the wonders of confirmation bias! Sorry, OP, Lepista nuda is what you have. Your mushrooms are naturally purple, not bluing. Google some pictures of bluing on 'magic mushrooms' and compare to yours. But, don't worry, you probably live on their territory, so with more patience, you might eventually find some.

Alan, is it Clitocybe or Lepista now? I thought I remembered reading that they changed it to Lepista nuda..could remember wrong tho.

Lepista nuda is the current name according to Index fungorum. They changed it from Lepista to Clitocybe a few years back. Now they threw it back into Lepista.

Ooooo ok, thank you Tangich. What's the reason for the flip-flopping?

Well, I'd say it's taxonomists' boredom and bickering. They'd say it's some completely credible reason. But seriously, sometimes it's due to the new DNA results, sometimes it's the name that was proposed first, other times it's something else. I don't pretend to understand it at all, I'm not really into the 'scientific' aspect of mushrooms.

The frost we have had will stunt all growth until late spring, but really they're done until next summer/fall. Now is the time to really read up (go through the year's past "official caerulescens" threads) and study. If you have not heard, Psilocybe weilii is no longer a valid taxon. That name was a misnomer of Psilocybe caerulescens. See, the original description for P. caerulescens didn't mention that the species had pleurocystidia, so everytime someone found one and scoped it they thought they had found a new species... So what we have here in GA is most likely the same mushrooms the ones in Mexico, Alabama, etc.
-------------------- Species List (Georgia): Psilocybe caerulescens/weilii, Psilocybe atlantis/galindoi, Psilocybe cubensis, Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata, Psilocybe caerulipes, Psilocybe semilanceata, Psilocybe fagicola, Copelandia cyanescens, Panaeolus cinctulus, Panaeolus fimicola, Panaeolus olivaceus, Gymnopilus luteofolius, Gymnopilus aeruginosus, Gymnopilus junonius, Pluteus salicinus (Ohio): Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata, Psilocybe caerulipes, Pluteus cyanopus, Pluteus salicinus sensu lato..., Panaeolus cinctulus, Gymnopilus luteus, Gymnopilus luteofolius, Gymnopilus junonius, Gymnopilus aeruginosus

I just checked the DNA and it appears to be in Clitocybe.

Is that the only reason for the changes back and forth between Lepista and Clitocybe? I thought the DNA sequences of individual fruits within the same species were different.

I haven't read the papers that moved it, however I think it was moved due to the roughened spores.
DNA sequences should be the same for the same species, or very close. When we sequence the DNA we are not getting all 40 million base pairs, just very small pieces of around 1000 base pairs.
