How to prevent a bad trip.

I think I figured out how to prevent bad trips on shrooms, and it is a really simple thing to do. Smile.
I don't know if it works for everyone, but if you realize you are having a bad trip then try smiling and see if it works, and post results so we know if it is a real phenomena or not.

That's pretty funny, actually. I'll try it the next time the door over the abyss of hell opens and I slide on through...

Funny I recently read similar advice - someone said to just force yourself to laugh. Will try it out next time if the situation arises!

Forcing yourself to smile and laugh is good
Also, sitting down holding your legs by your chest and rocking back and forth

Rule #1 Don't make a thread like this to get people thinking about bad trips

That's actually a good idea, OP. I think one of the best ways to prevent a bad trip is to go into it knowing and wanting to lose your ego, etc. I know people on here get caught up on the semantics but to me that's the biggest effect from psychedelics. Don't be so attached to who you are.
As for a practical tip, change the surroundings or change/put on music. If I see a friend starting to have a bad trip in my room, I will guide him outside and distract him with something else. Same thing with music. That's the main thing method me and my friends used to use.

Change of environment works New place New music New setting
Distract and refocus
There is always a time for a change
Smiling is good... Actually affects your brain
Good setting shoukd include a plan B
