Why is it hard to inject spore's from syringe into substrate?

Last time I inoculated it was difficult to get the syringe to inject in the substrate due to resistance, I would move it around with a lot of pressure then it would finally inject but be too much from the pressure. Is this cause it wasn't angled against the glass? What should I do if this happens again?

Both above answers are true. I had the same issue last night doin a few jars. I got fine verm which likes to go inside the huge thick needle tip and clog the rig until you give it a good squeeze and more leaks out than you wanted. Ain't shit you can do about it...

Right now I have the plastic base in between my middle and index finger holding it and the plunger in my palm, is this the right way to do it? I have to put a lot of pressure to get the solution out, I can see myself having to push close to a CC in one hole from the pressure. I used almost a whole syringe on 5 jars lol. One thing I noticed is against the glass on the last jar I had less issues. I forgot to do that on the previous ones, maybe it's cause the syringe tip is less "surrounded" by the grain? I just hope it's not a issue on my next attempt and if it is if there's any tips as to what to do.

I usually just hold the rig with all 4 fingers and use the thumb to push down. And instead of watching the jar, watch the rig and if it moves down while pushing. That way makes it easier to control how mch ya put in. If ya watch the jar fuck you'll run out of spore solution before ya know it especially when adding alot of pressure due to clogging.

this, apply pressure firmly but slooowly, because at some point, you will push out the verm inside the needle, and if you are not careful, you'll squeeze out half the syringe

I'm guessing to let the air out you hold the syringe with the plunger down, wait for the air bubble to go to the top of the gear, and plunge it out? Would air make a difference? I had a shit load of air in mine :p

An air bubble is only good for breaking up huge spore clumps inside the rig. I don't know what the negatives are tho.

Too much air makes it hard to control how much comes out

Not to get off topic but are penny sized white splotches the first sign of colonization? I inoculated 9 days ago and 2 of 6 jars have them

That makes sense.
And yes white blotches are usually the first signs of colonization.

lol it's near impossible to inject the correct amount per hole. I don't blame ya.

Always 'burp' a spore syringe before using. If there's air in it, the air will compress and then let go all at once. This is why you're having this problem. With no air against the plunger, you can accurately dispense spores.

some good advice here....also when you put some pressure on the plunger, just wait a sec before you push harder, it's almost as if there's a slight delay, then the fluid comes out. Takes a bit of finesse to get it just right

I know, Can't escape those old days of opiate use tho. I still use some of the terms that I would call my syringe and all >.< Bad habbits lol
