A LOT of us are a LOT more "gifted" in life than we realize

I was walking back from a booze run (don't worry; me and hopefully some of us are quitting again soon) and was thinking how lucky I am that there are SO MANY XMAS LIGHTS THIS YEAR. Just... SO MANY.
And then I realized that those ghetto mother fuckers who live in the projects and stole tons of my shit last year might not even get to see some at all. Like... they live in an apartment complex so lights would be harder to put up (though nothing at all wrong with living in one! ) plus since they're in Section 8 housing, it's super unlikely many of them have an extra $8 laying around for even a single string of lights.
Also, some people--especially the elderly--simply have no family, or find themselves in situations they didn't choose or perhaps don't like such as a group home or a nursing home. The nursing home I was just in... I swear it's just like a fucking psych ward in there. These proud seniors are literally talked to like children and are locked in. Locked in.
Interestingly, the "rich old person" complex adjacent to it did not have locking doors, although to be fair it may have been more of an independent living type thing and the former home also functions as a physical rehab, so runners are a real possibility and they could die at this time of the year.
Also, some of us are getting way more than we deserve. I have no fucking idea what's going through my parents heads, but I've got a new 32-inch HDTV chilling under the tree with tons of wrapped packages and may also get a used MacBook Pro. If this doesn't strike you as WTF, please consult my profile under "Main Threads Only", especially circa DXM abuse days.
We are seriously fucking lucky. Also consider that I've only mentioned our comparatively-petty first-world problems. Elsewhere, people are still starting. They're still dying of diseases we can--in some cases--cure with OTC meds. I bet I have enough in my personal pharmacy to have saved at least 5-10 people's lives (antibiotics especially). Many places don't even have power.
Some places, you can still get killed for being gay or for your religious views.
We're lucky as fuck, whatever's under your tree. When you can't see over the rim of the rut you're in, just look at the infinity of the stars agleam above you and remember that there are people all over the country and world that would kill to be you.
They would literally do anything to get to be you even for a day.
Merry Xmas, Shroomery. I'm grateful to have you guys and gals in my life; truly.

I think about these things a lot. When I started thinking about it is when I started not stressing out about things as much. Life my get rough at times but a lot of it pales in comparison to the worst of it, even if sometimes we feel that way. It's a shame many people can't be more conscious of it. We can all live that way too, if it weren't for the utmost want of a few too many.

Thanks man and this doesn't surprise me to learn this about you. The grass looks the greenest when you think about all the barren land there is, and gratitude is self-contained and self-sufficient to carry many of us through a lot. Merry Xmas to you and everyone, including Akira's really ironic proposal about NiceChrisMan, who I am dressed up as for Festivus TYVM.

My family is broke as fuck, by first world standards anyway. We don't even have heating most days. It's easy to focus on the negatives in life, so it's a constant struggle to stay positive.

Ok well I recall three years ago someone transferred from there old French school to my Latin class. There was a new student that enrolled here recently, he sent the news to his friends and they all congratulated him on joining the number one university in the world. This was a university that had been praised worldwide by numerous leaders of the academic community, academic leaders that have ran campaigns for years and no every sales slogan known to man. They also rarely adopt a pretext to hide their true motives that others so readily do. Someone else will just state some pretext or another to escape facing up to the facts but they never realize that others have detected their folly.
The student was very reserved, you woudl almost say he was detached from his classmates, as if he just kept within his own concentric circle. The other students would play around while he would remain absorbed in his daytime musings, they would run around the class and he would be sitting there dreaming. Unfortunately a year later they announced that he later denied ever enrolling at this school, stating that he was merely suggested the idea by a schoolmate in France and he didn't really wish to pursue it. His other friend did choose to enroll there the following Summer. Well he wrote a little speech for us, he got in front of the class and interrupted the teachers course on latin to present this speech. Every student in the class glared at him before he began his speech, as if scrupulously examining him. They expected him to produce a speech that were to their expectations, they were used to only the very best being taught at a prestige private school. It was a little known school, rarely publicized on the news or anything. Rumors have it that they actually planned to prevent the news from being able to broadcast anything as particular as this private school. For students only came here if they sought to get away from the usual students. They were all from European countries thus pronounced certain American landscapes without producing the end of certain vowel sounds, so each time they referred to one in speech they hush up that last letter in the sentence. Well he is coming back in May, we have sent his parents some introductions to Greek art. He is visiting New York in a few weeks also, he has an appointment with a very influential psychologist. He has been practicing his trade for the last 40 years and is well known among higher class circles, usually the upper class students sent off to foreign schools and decide to see him. They actually are constantly asking when he opens his office because noone really knows what time he gets in every morning.
People really do want to know the moment he opens his office door though, the minutehe passes the door & smells the office realizing this si where he is stuck for the next 30 hours. He might dwell upon the fact or make plans to travel to Cuba & fish with some Indians. For my uncle just got back from fishing with some indians out west, they just returned from the West and was to arriveback i nawhile.
This psychologist is said to be one of the most precious sources of intimate "tete a tetes". He attempts to create an official bond between his patients, he tries to let the patient know that he is there for them, that he has reached his hand out and is attempting to discover new methods to enable him explain his situation in the clearest of terms. I always go to him when I want things to become less complicated, I know that afterwards he helps me dwindle down my thoughts associated with my seeing a psych. My friend was the first one that advised me to start seeing this guy, and I can't give him enough credit because I've been using him for years and he never has fallen short of my standards. He has many expecations for his firm so rest assured he won't two time you. He is a psychologist that reminds you of a past event to make you realize how much you have to offer, how much you can make someone smile with a simple gesture, to perform a random act of kindness to erase your former sins. For he is quite a holy man and only blesses those who admit they need saving since not everyone can. Sometimes people pretend that there sins aren't what are preventing them from all the great things they are bound for, but they are more often than not directly responsible for those turn of events. Some events do not come into our life without a reason, sometimes events come because they had to. We couldn't ignore the event before it happened, we knew it happened and there was nothing else to do but realize it did.
This psychologist has healed over a million people with his cure all tests. He has sent people these tests that quiz us with problems of psychology, and its our mission to resolve the difficulties endured.
They are actually in the process of developing a statue in Boston to honor his name after his death. It will be built there in the next 10 years and people will travel rfom all over the world to see it & bow to pay their respects. They will get on their knees and stand in awe atthe statue. Remembering all the great achievements he accomplished & wishing for later offspring to know his name. So they will pass the tradition down to there children and we can have more blessings given to the world, those things which we hold so precious, those things which make life truly sacred, the things that lift us up to such heights that we cannot fathom ever descending from such a high area. For some places you cannot see from below, and you must climb to thetop to get a look at it. Will you come to the top or will you stay at the bottom? That is the true question. You must ask yourself this, and you must look yourself in the eye as you ask it to know your being true to yourself. Well I hav scheduled another meeting with this psych everytime I see him I find myself oddly refreshed, as if I've become myself more. I can feel my inner self coming out more as I stay around him, for some reason. I also always feel I'm able to talk about things easier with him around, as if he allows me to talk more freely.

I'm thankful that all my neighbors are Jewish, so nobody has put up tacky lights and I just found out our Starbucks will be open normal hours on Christmas.
On a side note, has anything happened in drkenny's life that wasn't three years ago?
