Is there a way to block an entire sub forum? 1

I know this question has been answered negative in the past. I wanted to know if the site has been modified to block specific sub forums yet or if it ever will be? It is quite painful to see so much nonsense being constantly bumped. A real shame that a great forum is being plagued by such rubbish.

You can hide subforums in your forum layout. I have hidden man of the forums on here because I kept scrolling past them and they never really interested me much.

Unless something has changed, the ability to block sub-forums does not exist.
"Forums" can be blocked. "Sub-forums" can not be.

Thank you for your responses. It seems that my ignore list is about to be well-populated in the near future lol. It kills me to see threads and threads of crap every time I click active topics ALL IN CAPS LOCK LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!! To each their own I suppose lol. At the very least, these people are frequently banned from the forums I frequent.

Sorry... I may just be over-tired, but I really don't get why this is an issue. I'd think if you didn't want to have to see what's in a particular sub-forum, you could simply not click, and not look in the sub-forum...?
Is there something I'm missing?
Do you mean "sub-forum" like "The Pub" and "OTD" are sub-forums, of the shroomery?
Or you you mean like "Ladies Night" and "Vets Lounge" are sub-forums of The Pub?
Either way... I don't see anything in any of those forums, unless I click the link to view them.
I'm really fucking baffled here.

I'm guessing anyone who cares about this uses "active topics" a lot. I use it only once in a while to see what's going on in forums I don't normally view, so it doesn't bother me if a lot is stuff I'm not interested in. I do regularly hide pub threads I have no interest in though, especially when they stick around for a long time..

Specifically, I wanted to be unable to see posts from sub-forums such as "warminati" under the user created forums when I browse the active topics. I find the active topics to be useful in seeing the most recent posts across a range of forums all at once.
Upon clicking active topics and seeing more than half a page of bumps of people crying about being banned, and then clicking next page and seeing the same thing, it get exhausting to have to filter out the rubbish in between legitimate posts.
The reason I want to block specific sub-forums is because these particular members all post in the same sub-forums, where they are able to bump their posts as many times as they like. Blocking these members does not prevent me from having to see their topics.
Think of it this way. You have a neighbor that cooks something that smells awful. Instead of going over to ask them to stop(because cooking food within their own home is within their own rights) I would simply close the window to keep the smell from coming in.
I don't care to get moderators involved over offensive or illegitimate material if there is a way for me to remedy the problem for myself nor would I want to waste my time asking these people to stop when it would clearly do no good. If I could simply not see it, I won't be constantly reminded that I am sharing the same space with people that are desperate for negative attention.
I also do not expect this feature to be catered to myself either. If the site had it built it, then I would use it. Since it doesn't, I will simply use the tools I have and discontinue the frequent use of the active topics to remedy my problem.

Something tells me the threads made in whatever specific forums aren't against the rules, so your little "offensive or illegitimate material" comment seems stupid.
Don't use the active topics feature, problem solved.

Basically this.
I do see where you're coming from OP (though I've never used active topics myself so it's never really bothered me). But you gotta understand there are many different communities within the subforums of the shroomery. Some of them are a lot different from each other and thus function differently and have different "rules" (for lack of a better word) as to what does and doesn't fly. A lot of these communities consist of people who have been posting together for years, and function more like chat rooms than forums at this point and can get a little silly.
It's a little arrogant to think that your way of using the site is better than everyone else's and want to see others banned for their posting styles. Just my opinion though. (To be perfectly honest, I've always kind of hated, and missed the point of, OTD but I don't wish to see OTD shut down and have all the regulars banned or anything like that. I just don't go in there )

Lol possibly, but not towards other people. I would, however, enjoy being able to control my personal experience within the confines of the sites functions. Since it appears unfeasible, it is safe to admit that I am out of luck on this one.

The condescending nature of your reply is quite unnecessary. I admit, you are indeed correct in the fact that within their own sub-forum, they make the rules as they see fit, making my statement null and void. My carelessness is partially due to a recent health issue.

As you can see, I have already drawn this same conclusion. I humbly accept the repeat in information, thus increasing the credibility of the advice given.
I would like to add that my desire to block these sub-forums does not reflect my opinion on all of the members that they belong to. There are many members within them that I can enjoy intelligent conversation with. As a newer member, I wish to learn the full range of functions this site has to offer, as well as it's limitations. This is why I chose to word my question as "is there?" instead of "how come I can't?"
The advice is greatly appreciated, as I now know how to proceed in maximizing the enjoyment of my experience as a member of the forums.

No worries. As daiy has reminded me, my own arrogance knows little bounds lol. Perhaps I am just getting to old to be patient with the way some people interact with technological communication
