Randomness and a few ID's
    #19313183 - 12/22/13 06:56 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

im really sorry about the pic size... i didnt notice they were so big until i had already uploaded them all....so i have a bunch of pics from the past few days. some i know, some i dont. and 1 really weird grocery store ID request  so, here we go.
#1) so im not even sure this is a mushroom...i think it is but :justdontknow: found about 20ft up, coming out of a knot in an ?Oak tree? i t believe

#2) thinking Amanita...?Sp01?...thought i had this one IDed before, but now im not so sure..

#3) i haven't a clue... i thought Lactarius at first, but i just dont know

#4) found in pine needles, might not be able to tell from the pics, but the gills had a purpleish tint to it

#5) found at the base of Pine trees

#6) maybe a Gymnopus?

#7) Gymnopilus sp.?? frozen to the log lol

#8) no idea....

#9) (number 9, number 9) not sure again....sorry

#10) my wife grabbed these from Wally World and im not sure what two of them are...going clockwise starting with the "Button mushroom" in the top right, not sure about the next one and the yellow cap i think is an Oyster of some sort? the stem threw me off though...

and these are just extras
this on is the view when walking up to one of my Meadow Mushroom (Agaricus campestris) spots
A frozen (solid) Cortinarius (i believe)
A little family of Mycena i think.
this was cool, a skinny tree, on a tiny island, in the middle of a flood area that was frozen over! i think those are artist conks...?
TINYEST mushroom i have ever found!! i think its a Mycena sp.
and last but certainly not least, some witches butter and some "grape jelly" fungi that i've never seen before
well, thats it for now. thank you for any help that can be given. i hope everyone is having a good holiday season so far! happy hunting!!

Any ideas? Or should I try to resize the pics and redo the ID part?

The first one was Hericium erinaceus at some point.

Thank you :frown: I was thinking it looked like a Hericium, just didn't want to believe it... I've walked by this tree...I can't even come up with a number...sooo many times :frown: I can't believe I've literally walked under this thing for weeks, maybe even longer... that's a bummer!

Your Wally world find looks like it came from one of those little packs they sell around here, they come with Cremini, Shiitake, and some usually pretty beat-up oysters of the yellow variety.  Looks like that's what you got there

1. Hericium sp.
2. Amanita sp.
3. Definatly not Laccaria.  I would venture a guess to say Enteloma sp.
4. Laccaria sp.  Possibly Laccaria amethystina

5. My gut tells me that it’s a Pluteus sp.  However the gills appear closer to Murasmius or Mycena.

I'd call #8  Cystoderma sp.

You're tiny one could be a Hygrocybe sp., hard to tell. :doublefacepalm:

Thank you very much for all your help everyone! I've been thinking a lot about maybe starting a collection of everything I find.... is their a place on this site or maybe another site that I could get advice and ideas from? I just recently got a little microscope to help me along a little more and I am now sure this is what I want to get into and having a nice collection I can look at in person would help tremendously. Thank you for any suggestions and thanks for your help

#6 is xeromphalina  except for maybe the one on the left in the top picture. It might be just rally white from bright light on it, but it kinda seems different.

No, you're right on. I think I meant to post a different picture. That was something different. Thank you for the ID also!
