Casing a cake, may have fucked up.

So I inoculated 8 BRF jars with my syringes, and have since lost three to contaminants. Having 2 jars at about 90%, 2 that I put too much water in at about 60% (but man is it some pretty, thick mycelium), and then one that was at 100% for 4 days, I decided I'd take the fully colonized one and try a pure verm casing (which after reading wasn't the best route) similar to the Cheap CD Spindle Tek but with a black plastic tray used for small flowers and such but without holes on the bottom. I was going to leave for my parents so I figured I'd set it up and let it colonize a bit the few days I wasn't home. So I steam sterilized enough wet verm to cover a half pint jar in the tray, plus some extra just in case. I then birthed the cake and set it on the half inch layer on the bottom of the tray and covered it with wet verm. I wrapped it in foil and stuck it alongside my jars to colonize. It was only after I sat with my family a bit that I realized I didn't dunk it at all, and also started fretting about contams. So will it fail since I didn't dunk the cake? The vermiculite had quite a bit of moisture, could it be enough to sustain the cake? Thanks for reading this, I hope you can put some of my worries to rest.

What's hard to understand about it? I suppose the first half is kinda irrelevant to the thread but I didn't want to leave out any info.

you won't fail because you didn't dunk you just may not get the full potential out of your first flush, just keep up with your misting

Dunking the cake is not necessity when birthing to get it to fruit. It's just highly recommended for best yield. However if were to dry out heavily while you were gone, which may or may not happen depending on how well you wrapped it since it's not in an FC, it may be necessary to dunk it before it'll fruit.

Krik I have to read a lot every day.
Try to break up the post using the return key next time and clearly explain each step.
Thanks for coming here to ask. I also appreciate knowing someone else will read it and answer your questions.

Thanks a ton cronicr and Kizzle, feel much better about my mistake now. And I'll do that from now on MC, I've really only posted on forums where being proper grammatically is more important than how easy it actually is to read.

it's all good man keep us posted on your progress, being a thin sub you really wanna keep up with the misting i'd even suggest a nice heavy one right now to let it suck some moisture up, once the sub starts to pull away from the edges you can put some water down the sides

Not at the tray for a couple days but I wrapped it in plastic wrap before I left so it would retain as much moisture as possible.
