Drugs to take for getting tattoos?

Right, so i've been wondering what kinds of chemicals would benefit a tattoo session, and help the person last longer.
I am not specifically speaking of dulling pain, there are other factors that go into this as well, as the body reacts to getting a tattoo in various ways, including an inflammatory reponse.
For this specific reason, i can't get passed three hours per session as the skin flares up. My artist has explained that he can't really just move to another area and tattoo that spot where it seems uninflamed, as it is the whole body that is reacting to everything. I am wondering if a NSAID substance would benefit a tattoo session as it might help the skin from becoming inflamed?
I know that Opiates will help dull pain, but i have never used any for getting a tattoo. yesterday i was on kratom as a bit of an experiment to see how powerful it was as an analgesic and pain killer, and it really didn't kill the pain as much as it relaxed me during the tattoo session, but there was some pain reduction on 5 grams of the stuff.
What do you think?

How long does it last? NSAID drugs could help with that, they just make you bleed a lot more.

The whole thing is just too gross by half. What do you possibly get out of it? Art? Bah! Art is something you own and then RESELL. Tattoos only reflect a lapse in judgment that is indicative of a larger psychological set of issues that each adherent wears FOREVER.

This again?
Many tattoos serve as rites of passage, marks of status and rank, symbols of religious and spiritual devotion, decorations for bravery, sexual lures and marks of fertility, pledges of love, punishment, amulets and talismans, protection, and as the marks of outcasts, slaves and convicts.
The only thing your post reflects is a lack of creativity on your own part that is indicative of an inability to conceptualize 'art' as anything beyond that of a commodity one buys and sells...

So opiates would make you bleed more? I always wondered about this as I will mark my skin one of these days.

I don't think I would take drugs for a tattoo session. I was kinda drunk for a piercing stretch once, but that's a whole different beast.

Tattoos feel good man, they don't hurt. Your body gets natural adrenaline and endorphins pumping because of the needle. It's awesome! It feels like a heroin rush when they first start tatting you

Get the hydrocodone, that is mixed with ibuprofen.
The opiate helps the pain, the NSAID helps the inflammation.

Completely off topic. thread is about drugs and tattoos, not whether you would get one or not.
anyway, as frylock pointed out, ibuprofen might make clotting a little harder
"Ibuprofen can interfere with platelets and thus can reduce the clotting ability of the blood" from yahoo
" Ibuprofen, another NSAID, does not have such a long duration effect, with platelet function usually returning within 24 hours" from wiki
i am not sure ibuprofen is really the best thing to take for tattooing

True art has no monetary value. With that being said, you don't know what real art is so what about your opinion makes you think it's valid? There are a lot of people that would disagree with you. I'll give you a little hint for the future before you go to a real man's party and get whooped. Your opinion is nothing more. Don't act like you know something you couldn't possibly.

Well percocet and vicodin both have acetaminophen in them which will thin the blood. I dont think one or two would cause enough blood thinning to be a problem, but i'm no expert.

Most artists will advise against taking drugs during a tattoo session. My longest session was 8 hours straight from a artist with a pretty heavy hand I could have gone longer. I just say sit back and enjoy your time it's actually really fun:)

Yeah dude! My first was about the same length. It hurt like fuck but that's part of the deal! It was a test of my own willpower and I made it through without a problem.
To me, pain getting a tattoo is just as integral as a bad trip is to the psychedelic experience. No one wants it in the back of their mind, but in the end we are all better for it, and we know it.

I always liked these...
My tattoos are one color 'jail house' style tats I did my self.(2 were actually done in )
Some drugs were involved, but mainly alcohol encouraged my decision to do a tat. Some times meth was involved, too. First one I did was a cross with my name underneath on left bicep( I'm right handed). All the 'cool' kids did it. I think I was 16? Laundry ink and a sharpened short hat pin w/ thread wrapped around the pointy end.
This is interesting...What's in your ink?

Manufacturers are not required to reveal their ingredients or conduct trials... Heavy metals used for colors include mercury (red); lead (yellow, green, white); cadmium (red, orange, yellow); nickel (black); zinc (yellow, white); chromium (green); cobalt (blue); aluminium (green, violet); titanium (white); copper (blue, green); iron (brown, red, black); and barium (white). Metal oxides used include ferrocyanide and ferricyanide (yellow, red, green, blue). Organic chemicals used include azo-chemicals (orange, brown, yellow, green, violet) and naptha-derived chemicals (red). Carbon (soot or ash) is also used for black. Other compounds used as pigments include antimony, arsenic, beryllium, calcium, lithium, selenium, and sulphur.
Tattoo ink manufacturers typically blend the heavy metal pigments and/or use lightening agents (such as lead or titanium) to reduce production costs
I love me some heavy metals...
Then there's this...Glow in the dark ink and blacklight ink Wonder what these guys were thinking? (Caution! Contains )...

Booze. Get good and drunk. Being drunk puts you in a good mood with no apprehension. Drunk combined with the adrenaline boost gives a nice mellow high you won't feel anything at all. Alcohol helps the fluid and blood clean out from the tattoo site. Plus no risk of infection or complications, if your blood alcohol content is high enough.
this is very important, if you use booze you can't stop until the tattoo is done. Use mid proof liquor. Not 40 proof whiskey not 200 proof ever clear. A shot every half hour should be good

Only poser artists care about the no drug no booze. A real shop just wants your business and wants to put some wicked art to you, without all this straight edge pussy rules.
like I said blood and fluids will clean out faster, and less chance of infection. Provided there's enough alcohol.

To answer the OP's question: Opiates or benzos.
Obviously one or the other; if you combine the two then you'll be noticeably fucked up and most artists will refuse to work on you.
If you get prescription opiates, then do a cold water extraction to avoid the APAP. I wouldn't take any NSAIDs till after the session; but there are better ways to control the inflammation.

Tattoos feel hella good when they are getting done, your body will flush you with natural endorphins. You will get a fat ass rush.
I've never had one done someplace really sensitive though, so that could possibly hurt.

Most artists won't do much longer then a 4 hour session. Maybe 6 hours or so split up with a couple breaks. Both the artist and canvas get shot out by the 5th. Large pieces take days to complete. Do what you normally do. Don't do something to numb you for the tattoo. Most reputable places won't work on you if you come in fuct up.

I don't normally take drugs to dull the pain for tattoos. i have only done it one out of my four total sessions, and i did it really as an experiment to see how much dulling kratom does for pain. i do love the rush after, it makes you feel high.
and yeah, my artist wont really go longer than 3 or 4 hours because the skin gets inflamed and says that its not just confined to one area of the body, its the body as a whole that reacts. you start to bleed too much and it can get infected.
