Is this a pretty low yeild for pearls
    #19315550 - 12/23/13 10:18 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I harvested about 6.5 oz from the bag on the right. The bag on the left was around 4 oz.Both blocks are roughly 5#. And this was the first flush. How long should I let these sit before trying to re fruit?? & does it help to cold shock Pearls? What's a good yield # number to shoot for on a 5-7# block.

(aspen & corn cob bedding with no supplement inoculated with rye berries)

I had small first flush on my pearls, but the second and third were massive.

Just leave them in the fruiting chamber, they'll fruit again in a few days

larger second than first flush is usually an indicator of imperfect timing.  Wait until its showing signs of pins then introduce as many pinning triggers as possible to get it to go nuts.

What are the best triggers for pearls. Ive just been giving them fresh air every 15 min or so and keeping the RH around 85-90%. They pin like crazy but only a few actually mature into good shrooms. Am i doing something wrong or is this senescence??

For no supplements the bag on the right doesn't look to bad.

I normally supplement all sawdust; but it doesn't have to be.  I notice higher: yields, quality, color, rate of growth, shelf-life, density, etc. when supplementing.

I did a few sawdust blocks with BRF and a few with wheat germ. The wheat germ blocks are just starting to pin. The BRF are on their second flush And have pinned like crazy, the first flush was the same but only produced a few good mature mushrooms. I hoping the second flush will produce better results. So far the aspen and corn cobs are out preforming the dust in every way. I also have a straw log with the same species running in the kitchen this pearl strain seams to love the straw over all the others.
