Tiny yellow/brown colonies of bacteria.
    #19315338 - 12/23/13 09:12 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

So I recently attempted my first G2G, and all 6 jars I did contaminated.
Strangely, My two "control" jars which were just exposed to the air for 10 seconds were fine.

So here they are. Maybe it was thriving on the walls of the master. maybe its not harmful to the myc. Im going home for holidays, so time will tell.

I g2g'd them on 12-16. I scooped 3, and poured 3, and kept 2 controls. After the transfer I shook to distribute the grain.

is this mold, yeast, or bacteria? Isn't bacteria slimey? Can staph grow on grains?

It looks like yeast. It's certainly possible it was in your master jar. You wouldn't be able to tell it's there on a fully colonized substrate. As for how harmful it is the mycelium, most yeasts will slow or prevent the colonization of spawn.
