your opinion on damprid?

recently purchased some damprid at my local target- having trouble finding silica gel desiccant and not really wanting to buy a nice food dehydrator- and made a few drying chambers using tupperware. I have read mixed things about damprid, has it worked well in your guys' experience? my climate has quite low RH so fan drying got them quite dry already.

I fan dry mine for a day or so and then stick them in a container with damprid also for another couple.
Cracker dry in only a few days.
It's what I got until I get a dehydrator.....

It gets the job done. I don't know how dry your trying to get them but I assure you fan/damprid drying should suffice, aka prevent mold or decay

Put them in a large Tupperware container. Put a smaller Tupperware container inside with desiccant. Put large containers lid on. Put in fridge. If you're really paranoid zip tie/rubber band some mesh over the top of the smaller desiccant container. Gets them dryer than a food dehydrator IME with less oxidation. Takes a little longer, but I'm ok with that. Then go get some of the vacu-seal bags w/ the $9 pump and do it up. Make a little desiccant pouch w/ some damp rid in a coffee filter. Throw that in the vacuseal bag too. Then toss it in the freezer for storage.

depending on how many mushrooms you plan to grow, a dehydrator takes up less room works much more efficiently and is much less of a mess, and you dont have to always buy new damprid

I don't like damprid because I wouldn't want it near any of my foods. I understand it to be identical to the rock salt that's used to de-ice pavement. It turns into a vile liquid.
Army navy surplus stores and amazon are decent sources of silica gel.

in my experience just leaving them in front of the fan gets them dry faster than damprid. I just use damprid for storage.

ya it will work but if you get alot of mushrooms a dehydrator is a no brainer and will pay for itself compared to always buying damprid

just the opposite actually, you want to get your mushrooms dry as fast as possible. dehydrators and a pcs are your best friend in this hobby

how sketchy is it to use a dehydrator without temperature adjustment? that's the only kind I can find locally, and if I ordered one right now I'd still be stuck with damprid for this flush
