So, its been raining hard for a little more than a day, so I went and checked one of my Agaricus spots and BAM! they are back in force  I don't know of anyone that lives close to me but if anyone around nwga has a little time over the next day or two, the Agaricus campestris' should be out in fields and meadows. Over found a lot of them in baseball and soccer fields also! Found a ton of em this morning and just got done cleaning them, going back out in the morning. Ill try to get pics of this ridiculous field  but please get out there if you can! Good luck and happy hunting!

The real Agaricus campestris only grows in Europe, our North American one will get a new name when Rick Kerrigan's Agaricus book comes out

That's awesome. I'm just above/west. Maybe I'll get some cool finds if temps hold where they're at.

Awesome, I need someone to hunt with. There's a couple peeps in TN, but they're in the opposite corner, which is like driving to freakin' Canada.

What area specifically are you headed to? Just PM me if you don't want to post it all willy-nilly, or clog your thread.

Art, I'm in Greenville. Let me know if you move up this way. I could use a hunting partner as well. There's also the SCUMS group. They meet the first Monday of each month. They have smaller hunts each weekend, and larger events periodically.

WHAT?!?!?! Greenville is where we were thinking about! I have a friend in Greenville and he loves it. This is VERY exciting!  I wanted to join one here but it would be a four hour drive round trip and I just don't have the time unfortunately.  But I will definitely take you up on your offer! That sounds really exciting! Thank you

Ahh, that's unfortunate. Im near Memphis so I won't be anywhere near you. No biggie. You'll probably like it the way more than here anyway.

There are many places to hunt in this area. I hit the area around my house. Until you learn your local area, there's Clemson Experimental Forest, Paris Mountain, a quick trip up 276 will put you in the mountains around Caesar's Head. I found half a dozen huge Maitake clusters in my neighbors yard. A sparse oak forest with deep leaf litter yielded about 5lbs of Chanterelle behind another friend's house. I find a few of these Meadow Mushrooms while I'm walking my dogs. Matter of fact, that's how I spot many of the shrooms I gather. I usually grab a sample for ID then go back if it's something I want. This is a nice area for hunting mushrooms. Send me a PM is you make it up this way.
