Couple questions

In November I started growing and it was a pain in the ass to find verm. Well the store is now closed for the winter and if lowes doesn't have it I'm outta luck. I want to start a monotub and I was wondering if using shredded paper and some BRF would work? Also would injecting more spores per jar cause the mycelium to grow faster?

verm is pretty cheap on the net. paper or BRF won't do what verm does. verm is just for water retention. can you find coco coir? I take it you're not in a state where pot is legal cause grow stores would be everywhere

^^What he said. Also increasing the spore solution can mess up your moisture ratio leading to greater chance of contams.

The hydro stores in my town sell verm in 110 liter bags, usually enough to last me for 5-6 months or so and costs a lot less than buying it in those little 8 quart bags in the long run. If your using coir as your main sub ingredient you could use it just by itself, just try to not let the sub get compacted. Also sawdust is not as good as verm, but I have heard of people using it with some success.

Fuck I totally forgot about grow shops. I'm in Michigan and I see them all the time. Also I'm sure this is a noob question but 2/12 jars didn't grow and most of the other ones are taking FOREVER or seem to have stalled. Would it be alright to put it into the monotub?

if jars stall out it's usually due to contams. just use vibrant healthy mycelium. grow shops are a beautiful thing. coir, verm, perlite, worm castings all easy to get all year round.
