Life teaches with pain, just smile and learn, and the sun will still shine 2

I now fully understand the quote "love what you have before life teaches you to love what you lost". It hurts a lot. I took someone I had for granted, and just as I realized what that person meant to me, they slipped away. Life teaches us through pain, but it's really important to not surrender yourself to the pain. Learn from it and move on. If you haven't yet been taught this lesson, take the quote seriously.
It blows my mind how so many detest life, and can't wait to die. I'm in a lot of pain but I can see the beauty behind it. Despite this feeling, I find myself smiling, grateful for a more grown perspective, knowing that if I am lucky enough to meet a person I can love the way I should have loved her before I lost her, I won't make the same mistake.
If anyone cares to open up and share some of their life experiences and their lessons, it would be wonderful, as I'm sure there's a lot to learn.
-------------------- Careful, though your mind may be over matter, matter is all we really know. "Or is it?" The problem with intelligence is that it fosters arrogance, and arrogance suffocates intelligence. True intelligence however, bites holes in the bag.

it's called "not biting the hand that feeds".
it's in our nature to animalistic, and in an animal's "nature" it is an imperative to stay alive; in our heightened sense of "self-impermanence" as humans, we tend to be afraid of life as it's perpetual an animated form of death. we feel pain and we suffer because we animate according to our "Fears" and pre-suppositions, in regard to our life on this Earth; because it's in our imperative that we want to survive.
wanting to live, is being in pain; learning from life, is divulging your innate imperative for pain, into an understanding for pleasure. you can't have one, without the other.
I feel that I'm always sawing through the branch That I'm sitting on, I hope it will never break free But I know that my cut's not the real problem here It's a cancer that's in the body of this tree
And all the boughs will break and all the leaves will crumble If they're not allowed to grow They'll surely fall to be swept away And the bloom will feel the rake When the blossom takes it's tumble If they're not allowed to grow they'll surely fall
A flower must have sunlight like a song must be heard The ego needs an audience for the id to be stirred But if we sell for the sake of sales And those that want to buy Are we playing for ourselves or just acting out a lie?
Life is far too simple for our lives to be complex We take things like God, love, and life And pile them in our human mess We suffocate the bloom with man-made walls and fences We suffocate the bloom with false righteousness
we are suffocating the bloom

How does one go about not suffocating, rather nourishing the bloom?

give up man made ideals, concepts, realities and values, and go unquestioningly into striving for what you believe is right and true, without defining, judging, questioning and receiving from said man made things. only work from the place in the mind, that tells you indefinitely what you think and feel, and devoutly support that which wanes and waxes through time, without idling, contracting or expanding your self through time (a man made concept; is being able to see, feel or wade through time, a physical construct being mans TRUE understanding, as of right now)
and without contemplation of what's true or right for anyone else but yourself.

nah I was just trying to tell OP that his ex was not "the right one" it usually ease the pain a bit when you realise that, but now that I re-read his post I think he already had it all figured out.
btw OP I think you have an amazing attitude and mindset toward the whole situation. I can't think of anything to add that's not already said so yeah that's it keep your head up, the pain always go away.

yeah, he does. granted it's gotta be tough, but OP has exhibited some strong intention and understanding of his experience.
i wish the best for him; because , as you said it best, he's now free to find the "right one".
but pain will come... pain is gonna come and time is gonna wane... the pain will relax, and you can simplify things. make them better. makes things less confusing, which makes things more definite and true.

There is always hope. If there is one thing I hate about the 90's it's the apathetic, nihilistic, cynical pits of despair it spawned. Music was great, not as a way of life though.

Also thanks for all your kind words, if I get to meet my true soulmate, this life would prove to be more beautiful than I had imagined.

I really know that feeling OP. This week I lost a person in my life that profoundly changed the way I perceive the world around me. The man may've been one of the most interesting people I've ever met. He was a research subject for some IV DMT research tests that were conducted in isolation tanks in Venice beach back in the 60's. Funded 1 Doctorate and 1 culinary degree through coke money, but never spent a day in jail. Could make the best cannabis infused meals I've ever tasted (Bone in Ribeye basted in Cannabutter with a Red Wine/mushroom Canna sauce ). The man introduced me to great Art, music and literature. I still have his copy of "The Illuminatus Trilogy". Hell, the first time I blasted off DMT was with him. Lost his battle with liver cancer this week. I miss the memory of him, but most of all, I really miss our conversation. Here's to you James, I hope you find find peace on through on the other side. I'm really gonna miss you man. As Hunter S Thompson once said of Oscar Zeta Acosta- "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

Wow he sounds like a fascinating man, as well as a good one. May he rest in peace, and sorry for your loss.

I would agree, I'm sorry to read about your girl as well man. That man always had an interesting story to say the absolute least. I'm gonna smoke this joint and remember my buddy.
