mycelium growth
    #19305553 - 12/20/13 10:51 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

hi, i started this project 2 weeks ago, these are some of the jars that i took a pic thinking that the mycelium is starting to stop growing. i had it in my desk with a baseboard heater behind it. i know that is dry heat so i put a humidifier in there to let the air stay pretty moist half the time. i had 1 jar that did not do anything so i checked the vermiculite and it seems fairly dry. what can i do so it can continue to grow? maybe add a little bit of water on the top and let it trickle down? plz help

What style of lid do you have (pics would help) ?  The fact that you have a tin-foil lid is probably not good as it restricts fresh air exchange.

i used a second piece of tin foil for the lid. once i was done with my project i let the verm breath with the holes that were made from the needle and took off the second layer of tin foil

They look like they are bigger then your hand.... Which is to big.. The foil is slowing your colonization down, Also you need to know what the temp is down there if you have it next to a heater with a humidifier it's prolly getting way to hot.

Just needs to sit on a shelf somewhere left alone with the foil off in a smaller jar.

Gravity is drawing your moisture to the bottom

no no no, the baseboard heater is behind the cabinets completely sealed off. it stays at a consistent 84 degrees. i wouldn't just throw my jars where ever

Taking off the foil is a good start it will allow moisture to rise.
