Pressure cooker rocker weight is acting whack...

This old-fangled pressure cooker is driving me crazy. I know you're supposed to adjust it after you put the weight on so that is spins and shoots out steam 2-3 times a minute. But, as I lower the heat on the stove, it goes from spinning constantly to just stopping. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground I can get it to where it will spin and hiss at regular intervals. I tried cleaning the weight and it looks fine to me. Can anyone else experienced this?

i often run mine right under 15 psi so i don't have to listen to it lol, if it's a rocker weight just wait till it starts to rock and slowly turn the heat down

I have a cheap little single burner that took a little bit to get used to. once it heats up and the weight starts rocking i lower it to about medium and then the burner will turn off and the pressure will go a little under 15 for a few minutes and then the burner will kick on and the weight will start making lots of noise until the burner turns off again. you just have to make minute adjustments and you have to give it time to stabilize. like if i turn the heat down before it gets to about 15 psi it'll only ever get to like 12 or 13. It just takes a little finesse.

I tried to upload a picture but it won't let me upload a JPG, only movies for some reason. Does it really matter if the pressure fluctuates a lil bit and it's not always at 15? After an hour and a half of cooking you would think nothing could live inside there...
