Unknown polypore and possible turkey tail?
    #19311413 - 12/22/13 10:55 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Mushroom 1.

Growing about 6 inches up the trunk of I believe a living tree. Caps are 3-4 inches semiflexible. The underside is dark with small pores and readily bruises a dark brown.

Mushroom 2.

I believe this is a turkey tail, but am unsure. Caps a brown with darker concentric rings, with white growing edge. The underside is tanish with medium size pores.

Second could perhaps be Trametes ochracea. What kind of tree?

I am not very good at identifying wood if its not attached to a tree. But the three most common trees in that portion of the forest are oak, hickory and maple. Provided below are some better photos of the stick.
