everyone pretty much covered the issues youre having. but overall, for a first grow, id say youre on the right track! keep it up, and just make sure to continue improving. Id call this a success so far!
Congrats and good luck (:

Pick as they mature. In the first pic, there was one that I would have picked, and the rest I'd give like 6 hrs. Crazy looking GTs by the way!!
Good luck on your first grow!

After years of growing my method is consistent and solid. Spraying fruiting mushrooms with water is a bad idea in my opinion. There is no doubt the OP fruits are water logged from being sprayed.
Its weird but I got this misting thing that sucks at misting, and it would kinda spray the cakes instead. I actually found this worked well in conjunction with a good fan to induce evaporation, but I had to be careful not to overdo it. Even a few exa sprays could be too much (a few times I would see blue in the stems for a few mins after "misting)...but honestly even with this shitty k-mart "mister" my cakes turned out pretty decent and not any worse, maybe even better, than a friend who was just misting regularly). That said I tried not to ever aim for the cakes, and it would be similar to raindrops landing from the stream over the tops of the cakes, mostly landing on perlite but a good amount on the cakes too. But that's my own experience, and it wasn't on purpose, it was the only way I could "mist". I also found using a real fan (small kind, just popping open the FC and fanning all around for about 30 seconds) helped quite a bit. I always used them in conjunction.
Btw, even though the fruits in the first pic are good, why is the cake so flat? I see the other ones are fine, even though you didn't roll them. But the yields aren't bad, especially for a first grow. Last time I rolled and dunked every time, and didnt get much per flush (B+) but they flushed 12 times, decreasing in amount each time (from around 6g or so each cake down to one big mushroom per cake each flush).

Thanks for the positive feed back guys. Fractal I did roll my cakes lol. And I think the type of jars i used made them look flat.

baraka said: I am old school and I grew cakes for many years on end experimenting many ways. I am long retired now but all in all, the key things i found where this...
Use good quality brown rice. Get whole grain and coffee grind it yourself. Do not use pre ground brown rice. Make and mix your cakes properly. Dry mix the ingredriants first then add water. Don't roll the cake in verm or anything else. Waste of time Dunk the cakes in water before the first flush and between every other flush. DONT MIST! You are just adding water weight to mushrooms and making friendly environment for bacteria to grow on the fruits. The humidity has to be perfect. The mushrooms get water from the humidity, it is key.

I might be out there, and wrong, but I gotta ask. Is that last picture actually yours? It looks very similar to the main page picture. BTW if science did not evolve, we would still be working with stone tools. Lighten up, the things that are being discussed have been proven to work more efficiently in the last 10 years. If you would like to come out of retirement and try a control to prove your point, we are all about it man. Thanks for sharing.

So I have about 4 1/8s so far. I split them up into that for dosage purposes. Have a couple of cakes still developing the first flush. The one that jizzed on its self seemed to stop growing. Is that normal? And also i have a lot of small groups of fruit coming from the bottom of the cakes.

Awesome verm coat
Fruits that crawl under the bottom of the cake I've always left alone and end up having more substance than clusters from the side and crown just from their race to reach open air. I just leave them to do their thing.
When a flush ends is really hard to judge with a PF IMO. I just pick the fruits with tearing veils until the big bits are done growing, then pluck off the aborts and dunk.
You're getting real close to dose time.

Fresh is, according to me, 3x as strong as dry specimens, and hits way faster and harder.
Sending good vibes for the trip! <3

trip report: giggles, floor was moving, colors breathing. no crazy hallucinations tho. i guess it's time to step up and take a full 1/8.
anyway most of the cakes seem to be done with there first flush. i got two cakes left that him some pins that can still mature. once they are done i am gonna dunk them again.
i also inoculated 8 more jars (the right kinda jars this time lol) will it be bad if i stick them all in the same fc?

Everyone trips different, but I like it crazy intense. Like, writhing in fetal position alien abduction hideous clowns intense. 5-8g dry does it for me.

I find it hard to concentrate on your questions with your gir's ass smiling at me like that. I scroll up...read, then scroll down to write.
as for spacing, i dunno man. That's not something i really read into. A few inches in between should be ok...to get the cakes in and out..otherwise, i don't think it matters a whole lot. Look at monotubs...fuckers are sometimes jammed to the gills.
