Weekly post - new hobbiest seeking general guidance

Yo;
I'll keep this one short and sweet.
I had 92 cakes - lost/trashed loads. 40 some odd left.
This is my first attempt at growing - I once heard big attempts offer great failures.
I realize my conditions were not sterile enough and not enough [ or entirely too much] attention was paid to the fine key-points of this hobby.
So - majority of the remaining cakes have what appear to be bruising - with 50 contams.. obviously I was worried.
Today apparent trech spots have started - remove them instantly - right? what if they have Mushies on it currently? Harvest on spot and move on?
25 cakes rolled three days ago - 24 cakes rolled what has to of been 10 days ago or so - some Trech appearing and only five pins to be had.
oh- the first pin I had the spores dropped so I harvested it. I don't know if that was done growing..? or do they continue to grow once they drop spores?
Obviously this is my literal first attempt.
Thanks.

Hello there, I would say I'm sorry for your loss but I am happy that you are learning and pushing forward. Your positive attitude is exactly what is needed to flourish with this hobby. Anyway, to answer your questions:
A. "Today apparent trich spots have started - remove them instantly - right? what if they have Mushies on it currently? Harvest on spot and move on?" I would highly recommend you just get rid of the cakes, cut your losses, and try and see what you did wrong and correct it. The reason is if you or anyone you live with is immune-compromised or has some kind of respiratory illness the spores of trich could be really fuckin irritating or even fatal. But as far as the trich contaminating your fruits I wouldn't be too concerned, so it's really up to you if you want to take that chance bro.
B. "I don't know if that was done growing..? or do they continue to grow once they drop spores?" Yeah dude, that big boys finished growin for the most part. It woulda kept droppin spores but its size is about peaked, you can tell by the frills or waves on the cap that it's mature.
So now I have some questions for you: 1. What do you think/know you did wrong in your procedure? 2. Are you using a pressure cooker? 3. Did you use liquid culture (LC) or a spore syringe? 4. Is that a shotgun fruiting chamber (SGFC) in the middle pic? 5. What teks if any did you use?
Pretty good job though man, keep workin and you'll have some monster flushes in no time.

Thank you for the wavey cap tid-bit
1: Looking back I don't think I used a glove box. I live in a frat-house type - Dirty as a mothaf*cker. -obvious mishap 2:I did- kind of...
I got a cheap one and it ended up melting and smoked my house out; came back to a almost burnt kitchen! So it turned more into a steam sterilization - $60 PC via Amazon (24qt) that was recommend would be used. Slow and steady. 3: I used a Syringe; what are the benefits to either? 4: I have three SGFCs - The first one I made only had 2.5 inch perlite I later found out. Oops :P 5: EvilMushroom666! I ventured to so many Teks then found advantaged section and figured I'd browse the BigWigs profiles - and there she was.

Are you saying most got contaminated before they even fully colonized? If so it's probably an issue of your broken pressure cooker/steam sterilization. How AND how long did you steam sterilize the jars? Did you have a 3/4 inch layer of vermiculite in the jars, because a glove box truly is not needed my friend. And did you allow the jars to fully colonize with a couple extra days before you birthed them? Be sure to flame the needle after every jar you inoculate. Do you have anymore pictures? That may help me give you some more advice. Also, do be afraid to ask any questions, I won't belittle or judge you for any reason. We all have to start somewhere bro.
