How many times can you continue to do g2g transfer? Can I just keep doing over and over countless times?

How lucky do you feel? I do not recommend past g3. Beyond that is a crap shoot. Now all these folks will come behind me and say how they have gone g4 g5....they got lucky.

I have seen this come up before... other people recommend about 4 consecutive transfers is where you should stop and go back to an earlier point, or start a new run. It was said that the cultures can start to grow slower/get weaker, but this is not my firsthand experience.

So is a g3 the 3rd generation of jars. Meaning 2 transfers have been made off the original master jar?

It's got nothing to do with luck.....it's got to do with the amount of cell divisions that have taken place....and it can go past 3 transfers with great success.

This means we turn a single petri dish culture into at least 100,000 quarts of rye. Beyond simple cell division, chronological time is very important. If you stretch out the G2G transfers over a period of months, the mycelium will lose vigor the same as if it had been expanded. This is why we refrigerate cultures. RR

The luck I refer to has to do with avoiding contamination not senescence. Senescence wise you could easily go farther with a fresh culture. But contamination wise it becomes an all or nothing proposition. A tiny unnoticeable bit of trich and you lose it all. Nota hacker is a gambler. Livin on the edge. I guess that why he got all those ugly green guns.

Is that a .50 cal top left?
In short, yes there is a limit. Many say g3 others go as far as g5 with success. G2G's are easy with a flowhood. A little more difficult in a SAB.
