Sealing Mycobags
    #1930766 - 09/19/03 12:09 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

What is the best way to seal a mycobag without an impulse sealer?
I have tried just using a lighter, using a hot knife and various other methods and while some are workable none are particularly good or reliable. Anyone got any good methods?

Ya could try a eurosealer there cheap on ebay, like 5 bucks. but it takes a steady hand or a few passes to get a good seal.
Also good heat tape might work.

afoaf's grandma used to fold down the top twice at 1 inch per fold and electrical tape the seam until she found an impulse sealer at sears.

I have been using a towel and a cloths iron, then sealing with gaffa tape (duct tape) Works ok.

Also another way i have used is to make a ball of polly fill
bunch up the mouth of the bag, place the ball in, then put
a cable tie around it and pull it tight, this is also a good air filter, so two birds with one stone.

Cheap and cheer full, but effective enougth.
Usally i used bigger balls of polly fill, this
one was just an experiment, but worked fine.

The polly fill is actually squeezed inside the cable ties, to make a better seal.

Fold a piece of paper over the top then iron that on high heat. The paper will stick to the bag as it melts but gives a good seal.
