Some say no straw is really needed for cubensis, teks are 90% staw 10% poo?
    #19307157 - 12/21/13 09:44 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

So I was surprised when I was planning what I am going to do substrate wise that the teks on the site here say 10% manure 90% straw is best?

Someone else told me they didn't really think straw was necessary for cubes, I may add some gypsum now but my plan was casing it with 50/50+, no bottom layer (unless people really feel it's necessary, a lot don't) and 90-10 with manure being the 10%.

Also the spawn is birdseed.

I might work my way up to that, but I hear conflicting stories of it's price

well that begs the question, is there a BETTER ratio, or is there environmental and/or strain factors that make one better than another?

Also i may move to horse poo, but is there a wrong type of manure to use?

H-poo is perfect on its own aas is straw but i find more contams with straw and it dries out faster.
Just make sure its aged poo but all cubes will grow on either or any ratio of both

okay, so I live in colorado, and these are no touch monotubs. (until harvest) so maybe a 50 50 would be perfect?
