Looks like a blob. It's like a half assed attempt to form a fruit. Nothing to worry about. They are edible and active.

Consolidation will normally be the culprit for those i believe, i once said i would clone the next one for kicks but years later im yet to get another

My jars have been a mess, 10 out of ten contaminated first try. Second round, only four out of 16 did not contam (The bedroom needs cleaned top to bottom). In retrospect, only 2 likely "fully consolidated," the other 2 had lard areas unpopulated my mycelium (about an eighth of the surface area had no growth, the rest rhizomorphic growth and consolidated. I finally said the hell with it as jar by jar contaminated.
I have one tub with 8 partial cakes that had surgery (pretty sterile removing contams), and a second tub with healthy cakes, one is growing like a sprinter. No obvious contams in either after 10 days, and pins on most cakes. The blob is on the non-surgical area of a previously contaminated cake.
One syringe left, want to do a grain jar to spawn more grain jars, but no pressure cooker and I am leery with contam issues from BRF cakes. Any recommendations (thoughts are appreciated, I know question was asked once or twice before.

If you're losing entire batches it could be the initial sterilization. Try upping your time for pressure cooking or steaming. If you're steam sterilizing BRF cakes try doing a full 2 hours and see if you still lose to contams. It's mostly only when your noccing up your jars that the room has to be super clean. After that your filters (dry verm layer and possibly micropore tape for PF Tek) should be able to handle a little bit of dirt.

I wouldn't recommend jumping to grain if your having contam problems with PF Tek. Grains need to be far more sterile than PF Tek, because the entire jar is nutrients. So easy for a contam to take over. And you either need a PC for grains or steam sterilize them for 8 full hours like "Chronicr" is doing.

Anything tricks for cloning blob for first time grower/cloaner? With contam issues and limited budget, might just attempt on foil.

i doubt the blobs are genetic anyway, like i said pick a nice fruit from a cluster or wutever trait you want and yesQuote:

very simple and makes cloning for new growers easy and gives you a quick understanding of how and y we work with agar, but i think those blobs are from not consolidating and not genetic
