Reasonable expectation: Harvest by new year?
    #19305696 - 12/20/13 11:33 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

So, I have 9 grain jars colonizing. They are currently at 65-70% done.

I was wondering if it would be reasonably possible to get a harvest by new years.

Bear with me for a moment-
I figure if i directly spawn one of my grain jars to a tray (Hydrate/Dunk and spawn the grains directly) I could yield a few grams which would be good for 3-5 people to trip lightly on, right?

I know i can't spawn a quart to bulk, as there won't be enough time to colonise and fruit, but if i waited 3-4 days till my grains were colonised, and directly fruited them, could i get fruiting bodies by new years? I know it wouldn't be the full potential off the shrooms, or have full growth, but I figure i could pick what i have by then, and perhaps use an ethanol extraction to get more psylocibin out of the substrate (Note, i am only planning on doing this with one jar, not all 9, the other 9 will be spawned to a monotub using coco and verm or hpoo and worm castings if i can find any.)

So, even though it would be incredibly inefficient, would it be reasonable to have something by new years?

Ehh, i just want to share some with my grielfriend and some of my friends for new years- i dont mind loosing a jar. I'm hoping i can get a gram's worth of shrooms out of this for a person, so mabe 5-6 grams. is this at all possible?

It's 10 days to New Years. It sometimes takes that long just to get pins. Considering that it takes a day or two for myc to recover after you break it up, I would say that it is highly, highly unlikely. Best case scenario is you get a harvest of pins which may or may not be enough for your purposes. Give it a try but I would definitely have a backup plan.

Plus they are only 65-70% colonized. Could be several of those 10 days just getting to 100%. Your best bet for your hurried time frame might be not to break the grains up, but attempt to fruit them invitro in the jar.
