Why not?  Looks like Laccaria to me with that fibrous stem and hygrophanous cap?

I'm 100% on the ID , it's actually a common toadstool around here. Just thought I'd share. Thank you for saying I was wrong and giving absolutely no reason for it, river dweller what makes you say that?

Do you have a gill shot? Your photo doesn't look like what I've collected but maybe I'm just wrong.  No need to be huffy, people are allowed to disagree with you on an open forum.

Sorry! Shouldn't have called u out like that.  I am open to the possibility I could be wrong but I really think otherwise! I will take some more pictures. The reason I took this one is because it looked so much different than all the others in the forest, the cap was huge and completely faded its colors.

Laccaria down here in the southeast take on an unbelievable number of shapes and colors. Not sure if OP is in/around Florida but I fully believe this could be a Laccaria given the wacko diversity down this way.

I am not at all convinced that what we call Laccaria laccata is truly a single "species", though with fungi it really depends on how you define species in the first place. Even beyond microscopic differences, John (Fungi01) I think mentioned that in Laccaria, mating studies may be necessary to figure out whether they are different species! Ain't nobody got time for that!

Seriously, this an identification forum after all. We want to see some gills!
The widening stem near the cap is odd.

Thought I'd post a few more finds instead of a new thread

2 and 3 are the same and 4,6  are different. All found in mixed woods in a flooded pasture

Pic 4 is an Entoloma.

The one from pics 2 and 3 look white spored, so perhaps they are in Gymnopus or Rhodocollybia.

If it really has a white print, Xerula might be a better name.  Entoloma has a pink spore print.

For 2 and 3, with an orange spore print, maybe they are Cortinarius.
