I was wandering if anyone knows the easiest way to prep Rye grain without any soaking? I'm trying to do some ps mexicana ans I only have one day to prep it since I'm going out of time and my grain should get here tomorrow.

the soak helps with less burst grains during the boil because its a lil soggy from the soak and the grains are not so hard

Soak for the longest you can and then prep using RR's preferred method. Soak at least 4 hours. I'd suggest throwing in a cup of coffee and some gypsum. Not much coffee. Maybe a cup per gallon of water to be safe. Then allow to cool in the PC overnight. Do not pull out because when growing stones you need to be very carful not to pull any contams into that jar... its going to be chillen for 3 months.
There are prep methods of just throwing the grain and water into a jar and pcing. I don't recommend it but it works. You will get chunks here and there, and you will be less likely to get a good ratio of water. The few times I've done this I've ended up with a little extra water. Not anything that built up but still I could tell there was a tad too much water. If you're using bulk grains make sure you rinse them before doing this or you'll end up with an even bigger mess of chunkiness. And keep the jars as far from the bottom of the PC as possible. It does work.
If you're growing stones and not using this to spawn/G2G... don't even bother. Use RR's or Violets methods when you have time. You need well prepped grains for that.

Do the soak prep but only soak for 4 hours. I do this, it was RRs idea I think.

when I soak the grains for about 10 hours or as close to that as possible do I pour out the soak water or do I just pour all the soak water and grain in the pot and prepare it that way with endospores and all? I lost my link to RR's grain tek but I'll use the search bar also can I soak the grain in the jars instead of using the pc?

The whole endospore thing is... more of a myth than anything. They leave behind endospores as they "hatch" anyway. The presoak is really to keep the grains from bursting when you boil them. Always use your soak water. there are nutes in there that you want, and the gypsum.

ok I found some old wheat berries that I had and I prepared them by rinsing them and putting them in quart jars filled with fairly hot water then I made some coffee and tossed the first pot and made another which should have been a bit weaker.
I then poured 75ml of that weakened coffee into each of the jars along with the hot water and I plan on putting a bit of gypsum in each jar but how much do you guys think would be best for each jar?

After soaking the grains you pour out the soak water and dry the grains out. You need to invest $9 in RR's videos. It doesn't sound like you have a handle on this yet but maybe I misunderstood your post?

No I've done grain many times before with good results and my only issue is that I'm having to prepare this a bit differently than I have before. I've prepped wheat before but I didn't get it right and ended up tossing it so I think I have an Idea how to make it work this time.

Ok, simmer then drain yes. I thought for some reason he was loading the jars with water and grains. I knew I must have read it wrong.

If you heat it up it will absorb the water faster so it doesn't have to sit as long. hot water from tap is prob hot enough.

I've used RRs rye grain tek every time I've done this before but I'm kinda worried about proper wheat prep vs Rye prep and I know truffle producers like coffee but not to much coffee and I was just trying to make sure I had it done right and other than soaking in quart jars which I'm not that used to but I know it's been done before with great success and it's really all I can do for now. I'll be heads out of town the day after tomorrow and my rye should get here tomorrow so that's why I'm asking some of these questions.
Kinda like cronicr the girl I'm staying with now or is stayin with me don't like all my interest in cultivation so to keep the shit from hitting the fan I've got to do things a certain way until she's gone to work. BTW I'm not whipped I just don't like constant bitching and she's damn good at it.

Id use something bigger then jars to soak the more water you have the more pressure you have giving you faster absorbtion

Put fresh coffee grounds in your soak water, until the water is 25-50% strength of normal coffee. This will help the mycelium and RR doesn't include it in his video because he wants to make it as easy as possible but he agrees coffee in the soak is good.

Look. Here is the procedure: Soak berries in hot tap water for 4-24hrs (24 is best.) Cover whatever container you're using while soaking. The pot you plan to simmer/boil in is best to save you a x-fer. Covering it will help keep the temps warm for as long as possible to discourage sprouting of the grain. This is rarely an issue though. My soaks are usually room temp after 4 hours and I soak for 24. You can add a small amount of coffee (liquid) to the soak water to raise Nitrogen levels but DO NOT over do this. Also you can add 1/4 tsp gypsum per 1cup rye used. Or you can add it while simmering/boiling. If you used too much, you're probably fine.
After soaking, pour everything into large pot. Make sure you have plenty of water in the pot (the grains will absorb a lot of water during the boil.) If you need more, add hot tap water to pot. Simmer for 20 min (simmer means near boil/when steam is rolling off top of water.) Bring to a boil the last few minutes of simmering. This will help dry the surface of the grains when you pour them into a strainer. Go ahead and strain after 20min are up and you've brought the pot to a boil. Let them sit in strainer for 5min and then toss them (or stir them around) to expose wetter grains to the air (more steam will start to come off grains.)
After the grains are mostly dry in strainer, put in jars 2/3-3/4 full and PC for 90 min at 15psi. Let jars cool at least 5 hours INSIDE the PC. Its much safer this way. For you, the grains, and for the precious mushies.
