Where/how did you meet your BF/GF / wife/husband?

Those of you in a relationship, I'm just curious where or how you met the person you're in a relationship with?
Back in school it was relatively common to cross paths with the opposite sex, and a little less common was crossing paths with those that would potentially be "relationship" worthy. Not to mention being younger then, the "game" was a bit easier to play.
Now in my mid, going on late, 20s...I'm just never in a position or place where I cross paths with the ladies. I'm not in school, I don't go out to bars/clubs, house parties other than gatherings of friends/acquaintences aren't my thing. I'm just simply never in a place or situation where I'm around (single) ladies around my age.
I'm thinking about taking a few classes just so I can be at a place and in a situation where there are ladies generally around my age .
I'm actually glad I've been out of a relationship through most of my 20s now...I've had the space & time to learn about & develop myself as a person/individual. Which is something that would have likely been delayed or potentially skewed if I was in a relationship during what I consider a crucial period for growing as a person/coming into my own/"finding my self" .
But I'm incredibly lonely, and feel that I'm ready to start to mingle again...I just don't know where to start .

My uncle was dating a lady, he calls me up one night and tells me to come over to her place and meet her roommate. I'm like yeah ok so I get a quick shave and walk like 10 blocks there. I walk in, grab a drink, sat down beside her, we got it on, and we've been together since.
That's a story to tell the kids. LOL

All of my serious romantic relations have stemmed from me talking to people online. I'm socially awkward and I always have been for as long as I can remember. It has gotten a little better over the years but I still just feel like I can't relate to most people. It is much easier for me to get my thoughts out through text because my mind is just all over the place when I try to communicate verbally.
Anyway I have found that I have much in common with people on this site alone. You never know who you'll end up talking to here.
Good luck and here is a cuddle for good measure!

Well one day I went hiking with my friend, we watched the sunset on a tree over the lake and then we go back to his place because his friend is there and wants to chill. When we got in I saw his friend, got introduced and could not keep my eye off of this boy. I got this crazy connection from him and knew we needed to be friends. Added him on Facebook, exchanged numbers, became best friends. Told each other every single thing there was. Became friends with benefits on my 20th birthday and then fell in love. We lived with each other for a year, when the lease was up we were going to move together into the place I'm at right now with my friend and her fiancé. Well with stress and my craziness due to my implanon I drove him away. We broke up for a few months but kept in touch until August 2013 then began talking at the end of September. But he ended up moving 2 1/2 hours away for school and a bomb ass new job at this 5 star restaurant. Well we started dating again because I was back to my normal self (no birth control, fuck added hormones) and we couldn't be happier. We are ridiculously in love it's disgusting. Haha (:
Sorry for it being so long, I'm just on addy/: makes me chatty.

This post turned out way longer than I expected, but it's a genuine and good story on subject so come back and read it later if you don't have the time so
Apparently, the very first time we met was when we were both young teens. We were both attending some head-banging party and we were both quite hammered. Without going into detail; I was making my way to the toilet in a directionless emotional storm of drunken confidence and self-absorption. Before I could reach the door (toilet was for both sexes) she burst out of it in pretty much the same vibe and we jus kinda grabbed each other and went right back in for a little while. We were too drunk to remember each other afterwards and we didn't get to know each other, so i only got this story half a year into our relationship from my friend who says he remembers the whole thing and that would make sense since he knows her and all of her friends.
Anyways.
Next time we ran into each other was in the beginning of 2013 during a Reggea party in the local club that was closed recently due to drug charges (I think). I was rolling on MDMA and playing along with the music on my percussion instrument. She approached me with a friend who had a little sitar and seemed quite fascinated with the jam vibe. The second I laid eyes on her (note that neither of us were into the whole metal scene anymore and a lot of time had passed since then, so we didn't remember our teenage run-in at all) I had a spontaneous thought 'she could be your girlfriend'. Very unusual thought for me to have even whilst rolling, I was 21 and I did not have a single relationship yet, though I was not saying no to casual sex. I took the idea of a relationship very seriously and I didn't just hand out possibilities left and right. Believe it. Anyways, we played a little together and had a good time. She told me she had just returned from her travels, almost been out of the country for a year, hitchhiking, mostly living in caves in the Canary isles and that she was to leave again after a friend's wedding. Well, that concludes all the possibilities between us in this universe I thought. Don't get me wrong. I wasn't obsessed about us or anything. It was just that 'she could be my girlfriend' thought I kinda responded to. Nothing tragic either, was pretty casual. We said our goodbyes although we did run into each other during another jam session not a full week later (right before her leaving). But I was kinda caught up in playing so we didn't really get to mingle. We kept it friendly though.
Life goes on.
Fast forward to the beginning of the summer in 2013. I was hitchhiking from Lithuania towards Greece with my tent, my drum, a bag and a camera I had borrowed from my parents, who made sure to let me know that I will surely loose it and if I would- they'd be really pissed. I was filming a sort of gonzo documentary for my diploma work in university. The idea was to create a video with animation about alternative lifestyle. I was making my way towards the rainbow gathering, a perfect example of alternative lifestyle in today's society. But that all went out of the window when my camera and money got stolen in Zadar, Croatia. I was completely devastated when it happened. I only had my drum, my tent and my bag of clothes and some rations left. I was thinking about just going home since I hat apparently hit dead end. I was also contemplating just to go to Greece even if it meant I wouldn't be able to shoot my movie. But then, after meditating looking out the window at the lone white bridge connecting the city and old town, I got a much better idea. That bridge always has thousands of tourists crossing it. It's the perfect place to busk! Why busk? To earn back the camera and a living of course!
Now this landed me in Zadar for another 2 weeks. I was playing on that bridge from 6 until 11 PM and made around 400 kuna on a good day. During my stay I made some good friends and got to know the busking scenery in general. Was also meeting people who were travelling like myself from all over the world as well. I had made friends with the local bums who taught me how to get free pizza so I wasn't spending money on living. I was sleeping here and there; sometimes in parks, sometimes I'd get to sleep in the hostel very cheaply since I sorta had made friends with the receptionist and owner. I had run ins with police since I was playing without a permit, local gypsy beggars that wanted my off the bridge since I was taking all of their money. But in the end I got the sum I needed for the camera and some money for my further travels. During one of my performances a traveller who was staying in town called me on my phone and said "hey, man there are some street performers coming in here by the Riiva, a tribal beat might be what they need. You could split the money." I wasn't too sure, I was making enough money as it was... to risk some of my precious hours ad spot for a gamble like this wasn't probably rational, but for some reason I told him "I'm on my way".
When I came to the spot I saw that the show had somewhat started; poi, fires-spinning, some really neat stuff. There was a girl in a tribal dress preforming as I approached. I was looking at her... and looking...and looking...then I squinted.... it can't be. I was sure I knew her from somewhere. I was sure we were from the same country. But did we really know each other? I thought my best best was to try to get her attention whilst talking in my mother-tongue when she would stand back to let the other person preform. I did that and when she reacted to me greeting her I realised I knew her. Was the same gal anyway, after the mind blow I join to help put some rhythm into the performance, we make a good amount of money and split it. After that I got them all tons of free pizza and we devised a plan where me, the guy that called me on the phone and her would travel out of the city, just out somewhere. Enough was enough of this place, I thought. So we started travelling.
We ended up going to live in the mountain areas for some time and travelling to festival. She had initially come to this part of Europe to work in festivals. And she told us to come with her. We were travelling for months and our relationship built up slowly, but surely. Very true, no vulgar shit, deep connection. Everywhere we went, people thought there was something up between us. We had so many blasts, tripping our asses off in festivals, getting to know the people in the scene, sleeping in the tent whilst on the road, busking for money and trying to find ways out of sticky and rainy cities when we'd get stuck, living in art galleries, smoking dmt and weed among the paintings in exchange for labour during the day. Anyways, on our way back home to our motherland, and I hadn't seen it in 4 months now, there was just no denying it and ignoring it. We were already behaving like a couple and we loved each other. She moved in with me immediately after we got back and we are still together four months in, ecstatic to say the least. We consider each other family and we want to live like one as we grow old and die. Until then we're getting involved in festival scenery together, painting, creating decorations and pretty much doing everything together. I quit smoking cigarettes, porn, weed (everyday) and feel like a much better person today. We found out about the first part of the story (the toilet encounter) the first time she was rolling MDMA from our friend. We laughed so hard...
So, as for the thief who stole my camera- he is a saint and I love him I got my parents a new camera when I got back and my new direction for my diploma work is the art of trance and festival decorations.
Life has become so grand since, when, before we got together and the amazing thing is- it all came down to the choice when my camera got stolen. I chose to flow with it and do the right thing, what felt like the right vibe. Just give myself to life. I was alone. Without money. Without friends. Without any actual way to get home or anywhere. And I embraced it all and gained everything I was missing and more.
Think about that. I think about it everyday when I kiss her

Yo dude, to the guy saying you met your wife while working at Walmart, what a coincidence dude. Ive been working at Walmart for 2 weeks and have just came across a girl whom I consider relationship worthy there. Were actually setting up a new Walmart to open in January so the work is tedious but anyways, I haven't talked to this girl much.
That's my problem man, I always seem to cross paths with the uninteresting girls or the ones whom try to hard. I seriously never know when a girl is flirting with me and that sucks. But truth be told, I have never met anyone both intelligent enough and adventurous enough bundled together. Either they're shy as hell, which I could not deal with, or much too outspoken. Either not psychedelic inclined, or much too Right winged for my blood,
Does it seem I have too many standards? Seriously, it's a long list of five interests which nobody in real life seems to fit.
Be active Be happy Like (responsible) drug use Be spiritual Like sex
Then the requirement is that she doesnt look like a pug.
Don't get me wrong, I secretly laugh my ass off in the inside to people married below the age of 25 but I have never met a person I felt was worth dating yet. So how do people find that?

Ahhh! Sounds exactly like my gal
My advice is this: people like this tend to be out there travelling during summer and you'll definitely find people meeting those standards in psytrance festivals or parties in town.

I actually wonder if technology (texting, social media, grindr, etc.) is making people retarded when it comes to real life people skills, especially the skills that people kinda sucked at in the first place.

We met in a Cosi Cafe in downtown D.C. The place was packed so we ended up sitting together and chatting which then led to us having a four hour long conversation in the park across the street. At the time he wasn't really my "type" (I had a thing against dating white men) so I brushed it off and told him we could be friends.
Fast forward 3 years and an accidental text message later and we reconnected and started dating. He turned out to be one of the few men who actually understands me and loves my random shenanigans.
Me: I think I want to have quails! Him: *holding back laughter* Okay baby.
Me: GUNS! Him: You have to take lessons but fine.
Me: Home mycology! For science! Him: Uh-huh. Science. Okay, what do you need?
He always tells me he knew he was going to marry me the moment I walked into that coffee shop with my curly afro and stiletto black boots. He then felt lied to because those boots made me seem taller than I actually am. LOL! He's my best friend who's always DTF, confidante, gaming buddy (we're finally cracking Ultimate Vault Hunter mode), partner in crime, dude-bro, and so much more. When it turned out that we were both kinky bastards who didn't want kids? It seemed like we were just made for each other. He gives me the freedom I need to feel sane and doesn't smother me nor I him. So when I decide I want to disappear into the woods for a few days he's fine and when he visits his girlfriend for a week I'm fine and when we reconnect there's that genuine feeling of "coming home."
I can't even imagine what my life would be like without him. I am beyond blessed and I don't deserve him but fuck if I'm going ever going to have a day go by where he doesn't know just how much he means to me. 5 years and counting.

Gods it's been so long. I think it's the South Dupont Circle metro exit? So when you come up the escalator from Hades and look to your left the Cosi is (was) there. We went to the park that's at the center of the round about with the fountain.
