Needles coming out of syringes?

I'm making spore syringes for the first time. I noticed that the needles don't snap well into the syringe, and when I take off the cap sometimes the needle comes off too. I'm worried that this is a possible source of contamination. Is it just that the syringes that come with the spores are cheap and I should get new ones to work with? Is there a kind that has a needle that snaps in really tight and won't run the risk of coming out?

They should screw on with a half turn.

Sometimes when you flame the needle over and over the little notch the cap snugs over gets melty and stops working. It's still okay to use just flame it well from base to tip when you use it without wiping with a iso swab afterwards (debatable). The syringe itself should screw in securely to the barrel though otherwise I wouldn't use it.

make sure when you are uncapping them, that you are not turning the cap at all. just pull it straight off once it is correctly screwed in. I had done this a few times myself before I caught it.

its called the luer-lock syringe, u screw on the needle and it stays there, the regular luer only has a push on tip, and thats not the safest.. here u can see the difference between the luer lock and the luer syringe tip

I think something like this is probably your problem. Once screwed on the needle is usually pretty firmly attached so I don't think it would be able to work itself off. It almost turns a bit and then snaps into place. You could always look closely at the threads and make sure they aren't stripped or something.

Don't think there is really a debate about that, most agree that wiping the needle down with iso after flaming is counter productive.

What would you do with a hot needle tip and you wanted to insert it through rtv? Inject right away, wait for it to air cool, or cool it some other way?

There is a lil dab of glue that sits between the needle and its plastic tip. They were both shipped this way. Will flaming eventually melt this? One of the dabs seems to have come off, but it could of been from pressure cooking the syringes which I stopped doing.
